Beechwood 72 Silver Grove 68 (OT)

Final

Has anyone had the opportunity to see the point guard for Silver Grove, Corey Pelle play. I have heard some fantastic things about him, but have not been able to see him play. He has fantastic stats according to the Post but I did not know if it was due to the soft schedule that they play.

How would you rate with: Hester, Sharp, Simpson?

I don't think people realize Silver Grove is the smallest public school in the state with 81 students (only 35 boys). Given this, they have played Brossart twice, Campbell Co., Scott, Newport, Beechwood twice and Fleming Co. Pretty good schedule given their size. They are required to play all D3 teams twice. The Pelle Brothers have scored 20 a game whether its Brossart or Heritage. Last night against a good Beechwood team, Corey had 15 points and 14 rebounds as the point guard and brother Justin had 30 pts and 14 reb. Not bad being 5'11''. As for the other starters, Allen a 6'2'' junior has never played organized basketball ever. Faulkner a 6'3'' senior first picked up a basketball as a sophomore, and Wiseman, a junior guard, never played more than 10 minutes a game before this year. I have seen them a few times and they are very exciting team to watch.

Both Pelle brothers are excellent players and come to the gym ready to give 110% everytime they take the floor. Just recently the Head Coach of Wright State Univ. was at the Ludlow/Silver Grove game and one of the comments he made was how he enjoyed watching Justin Pelle that evening.

I was fortunate enough to have 1 yr of the Silver Grove experience. I taught their one year and coached with Steve Hart and it is truly amazing. I think I had 12 kids in my Senior class...period. My biggest class was 18 and that was the sophomores. The town is very supportive of not only the sports programs but also the school system. I think the Pelle boys were in Kindergarten or 1st grade when I was there so I don't remember them but do remember the Pelle name. These kids just love the game and I am sure they are playing ball every free moment they have. They have played a tough schedule for a school of their size and I think they have done a great job competing considering they just don't have the numbers. Good Luck Grovers in the Tourney and hopefully they can knock somebody off and make it to the 10th region tourney.

The D3 conference in NKY has some great seniors this year. Just this week, Romes puts up 41 last night (will make a small college very happy), Penick signs with Wright State, Wight drops 38 will nine threes and Justin Pelle continues his consistent play with 30 pts and 14 rebounds, still playing on an injured ankle. Corey Pelle will be the best returning player in the conference, as the Grove returns 6 of its top 8.

Yes, Wight dropping 9 3 balls was impressive. I am telling you... the HHS Birds need to find him and the Kilgore kid in the 1st round of the District or they will be taking an early exit. Playing at Bellevue... you just never know.

Whoa whoa whoa... I wouldn't say all that now.... They are good players but don't like physicals guards that make them work to get where they want to go... HHS should beat Bellevue handily if they scout and key on weaknesses...

Like I said, if they find them they should be okay but if they sit back and let Wight and Kilgore get open looks they may be introuble. All it takes is for Vories to get in early foul trouble and Bellevue to turn it into a perimeter game. I say HHS wins 84-64.

I would say 1-hester 2-simpson 3-sharp

From what I have seen from them if you just get a little bumping and physical play with them when they try cutting through the lane they lose focus....

They may end up being a pinball agains the Birds interior defense then. With Tanner, Smith and Guidugli it will be a rough night.
