He was but their was alot of missed shots.

 

I think the only struggle for the Pioneers was jump shots 5-8 ft.

out. But for the most part I expected that because of the Chames and Hill combo down low.

Chames had several blocks and Holmes easily had 10-15 blocks.

I can't think of a more athletic big in the 9th in quite a while and I'd include Pittman in there(not comparing overall skills - just pure athleticism).

Funny thing is, he could barely dunk when he first got to Holmes. He put in some serious work in the weight room to improve his athleticism and explosiveness as well as his overall strength,

If Simon Kenton could have taken better care of the ball this would have been interesting, however credit Holmes for creating the "havoc". Was very impressed with Mullins and Morrison for SK they played their butts off tonight. Chames was the man down low for the Dawgs and Bolden could not be stopped driving to the basket.

 

I could be wrong, but Holmes had no points outside of the paint, except for free throws.

0-7 from outside and other than a few jumpers Bolden hit, everything else was 8 feet or closer. This is one of the biggest reasons Holmes' shooting percentage is so high every game and why they draw a lot of fouls.

Couldn't agree more! Had this young man along with Cameron Crimm on our 5th grade AAU National Team in Cocoa Beach, Fl and never in a million years would I have thought Chames would turn out to be this good. Totally different player than the kid who played the game in regular glasses and uncoordinated. He's developed into a damn good big man and yes the most athletic in the 9th by far in a long time!!

It may be just me but this has to be one of the fastest Holmes teams in a very long time. The overall team speed is sick. They are not blessed with alot of bulk but the they clearly make up for it with speed and athletism. Kel's defense has not changed since he was in the 2nd grade, relentless and in your face for 4 quarters.

This was a pretty entertaining game and a nice crowd on hand to see it.

 

I thought the key for Simon Kenton was Robinson and he held them in it in my opinion. Morrison got off to a hot start and other than a three pointer late in the game, I don't think he scored that much in the second half. Robinson was able to get SK in to some kind of semblance of an offense and when he was not controlling the ball, SK had real problems in the full and half court.

SK didn't seem to have much depth off the bench. Kuntz is a nice player and had a nice block, but other than that, he didn't do a whole lot.

Overall, I think if you are a Pioneer fan you have to be encouraged about what you have going forward.

 

As for Holmes, they played well in spurts and didn't shoot the ball very well from the perimeter but they didn't have to. Bolden forced some shots tonight particularly in the first half, but was much more solid in the second half.

Holmes had a little spurt at the end of the third quarter as they did throughout much of the first half. Holmes would jump up 8 and then SK would whittle it to 3. SK after an early 6-2 lead never tied the game or got within but two and that was at 40-38 with a few minutes left in the third quarter. The little cushion Holmes had at the end of the third quickly jumped to 19 in the 4th and it was pretty much over.
