Not looking good. I took WAY too much time off this week for the holiday. Looks like I'm going to have a full day ahead of me at the office tomorrow.

Very disappointing. They've got some nice players and although I figured it would be tough for them to replace their two starting guards that graduated last year but I never saw this 2-5 start coming. Sure, the loss to Ballard is excused but the losses to Western, Betsy Layne and Dixie Heights were pretty shocking to me.

 

I haven't seen them in person yet this year so I couldn't begin to say what the problem is. And unless I make the drive to Lexington tomorrow (which looks pretty unlikely) I don't know that I will before the LIT in mid-January.

 

 

As a kid who grew up in EKY-- a Louisville school losing to the mountain school when they came to play a 1-time game there isn't something I'm going to write them off for.

 

Dixie Heights beat Henderson County today and judging by their other results, might be a little better than everyone is giving them credit for.

 

For me anyway, just because the 9th is up (two teams in Holmes and Newport Central Catholic are unquestioned top 10 in the state types) and Dixie doesn't have a good shot at winning it doesn't mean that they're horrible.

 

How has Male's guard play been early?

 

Is it possible they are just taking some lumps and getting better in the big picture, even though they could have won some of those games by doing something different?

Fair enough. Not to mention that the big game against Ballard had just been played the night before. No telling what kind of shape they were in -- not only physically but mentally -- after a close loss to a rival.

Like I said before, I haven't had a chance to see them in person, so I just don't know. But looking at the stats alone, it can't be great. If you take out the Ballard game where they scored 70, then up until their last game, they were averaging less than 50 points per game with 6'7" forward Will Parker accounting for around a third of those.

 

Unless they can get the scoring up, I don't know that they have the system defense in place to slow games down to a crawl and play at a lower-scoring pace.

The only one I caught last night was Bryan Station/Apollo, which didn't have commentary or many shots of the scoreboard, but let you follow the action at least.

Is there another place for teams to warm up or will there be 20 minutes between games for warmup? I just ask because I know Manual/Bardstown are in OT right now and Dixie/Male is supposed to start in 2.
