Who does everyone think will be the new manager of the Cubbies?

 

 

The following candidates have been linked to the job.

 

Rick Renteria -- supposedly the clear-cut favorite for the job...

Dave Martinez

AJ Hinch

Manny Acta

Torey Lovullo -- Will interview shortly after world series is over.

 

A.J. Hinch and Rick Renteria will receive second interviews for the Cubs' managerial vacancy, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The Cubs will conduct an in-person interview with Eric Wedge on Tuesday but have already spoken with him on the phone, Rosenthal adds.

 

 

 

Out there:

 

Don Mattingly??? - If things fall apart in LA

Tony LaRussa??? - Long shot plus he said he'd rather have a front office job instead of managing

Ozzie Guillen??? - Please, just no....he's too much of a headach.

Dusty Baker??? - Already coached the Cubs several years ago.

Other than the names under the "Out there" part of my post, I only know Manny Acta. If I remember correctly, didn't AJ Hinch use to be the Okland A's catcher?

According to mlbtraderumors.com, the Cubs expect to hire a new coach by the end of the week. If I remember correctly, Ausmus interviewed sometime this weekend.

Those are the names being mentioned for this position. Brad Ausmus was in consideration before getting hired by the Tigers. Renteria is the favorite for the position from everything I've read online. He's been talked about a lot.

 

There was a mystery person that was a candidate but to my knowledge, his name was never revealed.
