That is a huge reason many on here actually enjoy a T loss now and then just to try and knock the self righteous attitudes of some of their fans down a notch or two.

 

What is really sad is all these folks you take shots at when their schools win are the same people that applaud T's success in years they are really good and national powers. Yet it is so hard for T supporters to ever return the favor. What a shame. Guess it shows who has class and who may need to eat a little humble pie.

I don't care how savvy you think I am, you've lost me at this point.

 

Our state's "flag bearer" is only going to receive marginal respect/interest/exposure or whatever it is you are looking for in any given year anyway. Why worry about it? Again, T, X, Highlands and Male have gotten some national ink over the years, but it's not a regular occurrence and never will be.

 

Even if it did become a regular thing, it is no way any indication of the level of football played in Kentucky.

 

6A looks more open than it's been in a while. All the other classes look to be business as usual. What exactly has changed with the state of affairs in Kentucky football, other than one team seems flawed for a change?

Your logic is flawed. You see parity in Louisville and suddenly the entire state's play is down? Come on. Even if you say you're not just talking about Louisville (and I don't think that's the case) then your logic is still flawed. Parity doesn't indicate lower play. If anything it can mean better overall play ie the lessers are getting better. You're confusing a lack of a single dominant team as being indicative of the entire state's ability to play the game.

Actually what you did was put every BG win with a qualifier as to say they weren't good teams they beat.

You see, 99.9% of the people in the state who like high school football could really care less what you tthink about the states football programs or what anyone outside the state thinks about high school football in the state. You want to know why? Because of several things. I'm sure Indiana High Schoool football fans aren't really concerned with what KY high school football fans think about IN foottball.

 

Just because Trinity isn't the best team in the state doesn't mean all other schools are down. Trinity isn't the torch bearer for the states football programs nor will it ever be.

The only thing that matters to everyone but you is winning a state title. 10 years from now I doubt anyone who won a state championship will look down at their ring and say, man, when I won this, Rockpride said ky football was down so this ring doesn't mean squat.

Maybe. I guess it depends on what is the measuring stick you're using for the level of play in the state. If it's the traditional powers then, yes, we differ.

I think that I have done a very good job of keeping the ole "chin up" through this year....I looked back at our schedule, again last night, and other than Colerain and Male, we could have or should have won the other two....but alas, we didn't. In regards to your questions:

2 - Regarding football in this state, being down....maybe it is because "some" of the top teams aren't dominating as they have in the very recent past, maybe it's because teams like Scott County and Simon Kenton walked through the regular season. You see, in the past couple of decades there was parity and skill....now I see more parity than skill. There used to be dog fights in all the classes.....that rarely happens now.

3 - Overall, I really feel that KY football was very good, as a whole, in the 90's....there was a lot of parity, every game meant something. With the 6 class system 99% of the teams make the playoffs....that doesn't help anyone get better. When I played there were amazing teams throughout the state. Some school systems screwed it up for the kids, I am not really sure what happened here in Louisville.

My question is, what otrch bearer are you talking about? I didn't know after all is said and done every team sends a contigent to the National High School Football Team debates. I just don't get the ffascination in what others think of us. Who cares? It doesn't mean squat. You don't get any brownie points if someone from Rhode Island votes for KY football over Iowa Football.

 

The banner you talk about, someone in Texas or Colorado doesn't give a crap about BG, Trinity or Male. No one really cares and that is what I don't get...why the fascination with you and some others oon how we are percieved across the country. You don't get anyting from it, even the recognition you talk about...in the end what does it get you? Doesn't mean Mayfields state rings last year doesn'tt mean more than if they won again this year. Trust me no one in IN, TN or Ga gives a darn wwhat wee are doing in here, the only ones that do are the self absorbed arrogant ones that think we care the same about them, when in reality the majority of folks could care less.

Your issue is with six classes and not quality. Six classes has enabled teams to have less of a struggle to get to 9 or 10 wins.

Also, I would think because there is more parity that would mean the state of football is up more this year than in years past.

 

You talk about Scott Co. and SK walking through their schedules, but in years past you would say that was good when Trinity would do the same thing.

 

I'm sorry, but I still feel simply because Trinity isn't the best team in the state is why you even created this thread. Just because Trinity isn't the best doesn't mean that football in the state is down. Actually I think it's better now than in years past because there is more teams in contention to be the best in their class than in years past.

I don't get the point you are trying to make but let me say in 2011 there wasn't a team in Ohio Florida Texas, Georgia or other any state except NJ that was on Trinity's level. Trinity & Don Bosco clearly were the best 2 teams as they showed their dominance as they both blasted national powers week in & out.

 

 

Let's look at the USA Today final poll as a starting point for the states you mention.

 

How about Florida...arguably the best high school team may have been Armwood, Florida. Why? They beat three teams that finished in the USA Today Super 25 final poll. They were an outlaw program, and eventually paid the price, so if we throw Armwood out of the mix then we have the teams that Armwood beat...#3 Armwood (FL) 15-0, beat #5 Bishop Gorman (NV) 15-1, #14 Miami Central (FL) 13-1 an outlaw program and #15 Plant Tampa (FL) 14-1.

 

1. #1 Don Bosco (NJ) 11-0 did beat Bergen Catholic (NJ) 8-3 which finished as the #10 East Region team, no wins were against teams that finished in the USA Today Super 25 final poll.

2. #2 Trinity (KY) 14-0 did beat Cathedral (IN) 12-3 which finished as the #10 Midwest Region team, but no wins against teams that finished in the USA Today Super 25 final poll.

3. Regarding Texas and Georgia, they had perennially power teams like #4 Grayson (GA) 15-0 and #10 Lake Travis (TX) 15-0 that were unbeaten, and let's not forget #6 Good Counsel (MD) 12-0. These three teams were loaded with high level D-1 talent, Grayson had Nkemdiche/DL, the #1 player.

 

A playoff with these 8 teams would have been great, the outlaw #3 Armwood (FL) 15-0, #5 Bishop Gorman (NV) 15-1, #14 Miami Central (FL), #15 Plant Tampa (FL) 14-1, #1 Don Bosco (NJ) 11-0 , #2 Trinity (KY) 14-0 , #4 Grayson (GA) 15-0 and #10 Lake Travis (TX). If you don't like Armwood and Central, I'll add #6 Good Counsel who was loaded with D-1 talent and #21 Valor Christian (CO) 14-0 to the mix. To compete against these teams, a team needs a roster with high level athletes possessing both size and speed in both the junior and senior classes, at this level a team is as good as its talent. The teams I mention are loaded year in out with D-1 talent; look it up on Rivals. Trinity was loaded with a junior class talent that may never be seen again at the school, what about the senior class?

These teams would have brought the arms...Lake Travis is QB U, they had Mayfield/Texas Tech or Gorman had Soloman/Arizona..backs like Armwood Jones RB/ Florida, Grayson RB Gallman/Clemson or Good Counsel Brown/Maryland...they would have brought speed and size at WR to challenge the Trinity secondary like Good Counsel Diggs/Maryland and the OL/DL like the Grayson #1 Rivals player Nkemdiche who starts at Ole Miss DL or the Bishop Gorman kid Stanley who starts Notre Dame OL. These teams would each bring multiple big maulers on the OL/DL, D-1 speed to go with the D-1 size.

 

Trinity was an excellent team, but in an 8 team playoff without Armwood or Central, I would take Grayson and Good Counsel as reaching the final game with Grayson winning it all.

You can't use usa today to discredit T, but not use other polls ie rivals to credit them, then use that same other poll to credit another program.
