A flash from the past. 1991 4A Title game. Clark Co vs St X. My good friend Graham Johns is the announcer, he still announces the football and basketball games today. Hope you all enjoy.

That Clark County team was the FIRST TEAM to defeat Trinity and St. Xavier in consecutive weeks.

 

Also. please note the announcer referred to the Cardinals as Clark County! None of that George Rogers Clark stuff mentioned.

I don't know much about that Clark County team but I know that #25 Tim Hampton looked like an absolute man running down that sideline. My goodness!

^ Beat us pretty good in the semi's......they dominated for 2 1/2 quarters...then we made our run....ran out of time near their goal line in the 4th....lost 28-20

We went undefeated that year. To win 4A and beat Trinity and St X in I believe back to back games was unheard of. Not sure how much of a under-dog we were, but I believe we were not expected to win it all that year.

On the GRC/Clark Co name, it is a local thing. I always called it Clark Co till I moved here and realized real soon that most in Winchester called it GRC. I know..... some of our jersey's still have Clark Co on them and some have GRC. With social media now, others in the state should know we are a school with 2 names.....:lol2:

I was on that X team. A missed audible cost us the potential game tieing touchdown. It was a great game. I don't know why Hampton didn't play in college he was very good.

Saw the state game. It was a classic. The audible was missed, and. In the 99 state game in OT, Glaser said no audibles in the huddle! Was it later determined that one of Clark's rbs was overage? It just seems like I heard that. Clark made a great run that year.

Hey RP, wasn't that the same team that lost the winning streak to Holy Cross (Louisville)?

 

Pretty sure it was. I always felt sorry for that team. Having to follow the 88 to 90 teams and live up to their expectations had to be rough. If memory serves correct, the 92 and 93 teams didn't live up to the (in my opinion) unfair expectations of Trinity teams which had the Brohms and other greats still in people's memories. It wasn't till your senior year in 94 (or more specifically the playoffs of your senior year) that alumni and others were starting to puff their chests again. Unfortunately things dropped off again for most of the rest of the 90's. Trinity just had to sit back and watch Male and X win state.

Yes.....we lost to HC 13-12 (I believe).....our PK got his ribs broken in practice during the week (he was the backup RB), our backup kicker missed two fg's and two PAT's that game.

 

1992, Trinity was far and away the best team in the state, great athletes, tremendous senior leadership, etc........they were undefeated and lost a doozy in the playoffs to a very, very athletic Ballard team (ironically, I was on said Ballard team that year......long story).

 

1993, poor senior leadership, no true identity, lost to Corey Sallee and Butler in the playoffs (he was a freak)......

 

1994, it was all coming together, won the first four, lost the next four, made a total overhaul with who was playing where.....didn't look back from that point....(and I was on this Trinity team.....part of long story above).
