SvFan4life
Manny Acta was in Chicago today meeting with Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer.... Read that it wasn't a big deal because they have a long list of candidates and still plan on having Girardi as Plan A.
All State Baseball
Read that it wasn't a big deal because they have a long list of candidates and still plan on having Girardi as Plan A. That is correct. They still have to interview people incase the Girardi deal doesn't happen. Manny Acta, A.J. Hinch, Rick Renteria are also candidates..... I've never even heard of the Renteria guy

All State Baseball
Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is "more interested" in the Cubs manager's job than he was two years ago, a source tells ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers. The Cubs were interested in Maddux in 2011 but he pulled himself out of the process due to family considerations, though that "isn't as big of a concern" this time around. The Cubs have yet to contact Maddux during their current search for a new bench boss. All State Baseball
Joe Girardi "apparently remains torn" if he's going to accept the Yankees' extension offer or explore other manager jobs, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Timesreports. The Yankees "have made it clear" that they could pull back their offer if Girardi talks to other clubs, something he's not allowed to do until the end of the month since the Yankees aren't granting other teams permission to negotiate with their manager. One such team, the Cubs, expect to learn by tomorrow if Girardi is staying in New York, a source tells Wittenmyer. MentschTrachtGottLacht
......... Call me cynical, and I'll certainly have scrambled egg on my face if I'm wrong, but I've thought this Girardi lip-service about the Cubs has been disingenuous from jump. I really have. I've never bought it for a second.
All State Baseball
And Joe Girardi is staying in New York as he agreed to a 4 year contract extension with the Yankees. So now who do the Cubbies look at? Manny Acta? Dusty Baker (again)?, Eric Wedge? Sandy Alomar? A.J. Hinch? If I was a betting man, I'd bet that Manny Acta is the next coach...Don't know if that would be a good thing or bad...didn't too hot with the Indians but is a step up from Sveum...
