Ryle is looking dominating. It is shaping up like it will be Ryle versus Cov Cath in the freshman championship and Ryle looks like the favorite to me. Do Ryle and Cov Cath play during the regular season?

I have been thinking the same thing HB. Maybe not next year, but in two years there will be pressure for Ryle to be one of the top teams in N. Ky. and a top 10 team in the state in 6A.

Agreed. I really like Ryle's soph RB Lex McGregor and the FB Vince Jarvis. If you meet that kid in the hole, prepare to be hit. Kid is intense and plays hard.

Thus far Ryle has been dominant from the scores I've seen - CCH a little less so. Keep in mind, CCH has gone 4-0 without Vonhandorf at QB. His return will change the complexion of this offense.

 

Also keep in mind these two groups met last year as 8th graders with CCH winning 14-6. It was 14-0 at half and CCH played their 2nd team the 2nd half as it was a game that did not count against their schedule, but did count against Ryle's.

The good news for Warner, from what I am reading it sounds like the talent is right where he wants it - big linemen and good running backs so he can run the ball non stop right at people all night long.

Is that the Vonhandorf that came from Villa that is a good bball player?

Yes - Vonhandorf is a terrific b-ball player as well. Came from Blessed Sacrament actually but played varsity last year for Villa.

 

To answer the question from Alfx- a kid named Morgan was playing Freshman QB last year as an 8th grader and he was in line for that same job. I heard the family moved to Hazard. Don't know the Frosh Ryle QB is now, but he's obviously doing a great job.

Many of those frosh from last season are being forced into action this season with a few injuries at the varsity level. Last count i heard, 11 sophomores had started or received significant playing time this season. I personally think last years freshman class is deeper but this years freshman class has more cream rising to the top. Yes, it will be interesting to see if they can have long term success at the varsity level.

Wow. That is awesome with that many Sophs seeing significant playing time. That can only be positive for next years team. I know from Cooper, the two best sophomore classes were last years seniors and this years seniors but no way near 11 saw a lot of time when this years seniors were sophomores. I can think of maybe 4 seeing a lot of playing time and only 2-3 of them starting back then.

 

That is great news for Ryles future.
