 I'd make the 4th graders run suicides after the game.

From Caldwell County's 1st play from scrimmage, a Jaylen Boyd 27 yd run to paydirt, the visiting Tigers had the game in hand. There was a running clock from 7:23 to go in the 2nd quarter on, and at that point Coach Barnes pulled his horses out of the game. Going so far as to take a knee on the PAT when the score was 55-0. Elijah Sindelar had a good quarter and 4 mimutes of work, going 11 of 14 for 179 yds, 2 TDs passing and 1 TD rushing. Jaylen Boyd only had 3 carries for 71 yds. What may have been the play of the night was when Ohio County's kickoff returner broke a long return, with only kicker Brett Seymore to beat, and Seymore hit the return man and stripped the ball, forcing a fumble that Caldwell County recovered.Caldwell County had 380 yds in the 1st half, but was held back by starting most poscesions in Ohio County territory. All of Ohio County's 4 TDs were against the Tiger freshman team's defense, while Ohio County left their 1st string in the whole game. Not a real classy move.

My stats are from Ptown_dude and his stats man. Thanks, guys!

I will never fault the initial thought of a coach trying to show compassion for another team. He's to be commended.

With that said taking a knee on an XP is MUCH worse than getting one more point.

Didn't Ohio County dress around 30 players? Would they have had a third team?

I think you are exaggerating about the 4th graders. But if Caldwell had gotten the ball one more time the cheerleaders were going in.:lol2:

Question...

Everyone knew Caldwell was going to have a stellar crop of young talent coming up, and then even more they knew Caldwell was going to be really good following last season.

Is it just me or is it a little confusing to see them play such weak Non-District Games? I am good with Christian County, Ft. Campbell, and Mayfield... but those other games leave a lot to be desired for a team in Caldwell's position:

- Trying to close the gap on a dominant 2A Program

- Trying to showcase Sindelair as an elite college prospect knowing the knock on KY small school competition

- Trying to take their program to the next level as one of the short list of "elite" teams

I did not see a question in there anywhere but to answer your statement, a LOT of the bigger schools do not want to play a good small school. I am sure the Tigers would have gladly played Trinity this year, but the Rocks did not want to be bit by the Tigers. lol :jump:

Not to be a jerk..but just so we are clear.

You are correct when you say these are good non-district matchups for Caldwell...and historically speaking they are very tough matchups for a team not known as a powerhouse in football in the past. Caldwell is good this year no doubt, but you can't schedule a tough team for EVERY non-district game, it's nice to have a breather in there and get your young kids some experience.

For what they are trying to achieve I would call their schedule pretty good. I dont see a gap to close, the are the standard setter this season so far. While Sindelar is a great but young prospect, he to still has a long way to go and I think this is about the right level for him for this year.

Powerhouse in football in the past

maybe not but they have several state titles and might have had more if not for being traditionally stuck in Mayfield's district

Caldwell was ranked 4th in the state one year. Didn't make the playoffs because Mayfield was No. 1 and Fort Campbell was No. 2. That's how tough the district used to be.

I think the Tigers have a pretty solid schedule this year. Christian County will normally be a tough matchup for Caldwell. Ohio is 5A and beat the Tigers 2 years ago. Fort Campbell is a quality 3A opponent. Green County is a good 2A trip this year and Mayfield is still Mayfield. Trigg typically plays Caldwell tough.

The Tigers played Franklin-Simpson the last 2 years, but Franklin chose not to renew that contract this year. Caldwell wanted to keep that date.

Caldwell has a really strong team, maybe the best team it's ever had. But it's not like they should load the schedule with Bowling Green, Trinity and Highlands. The Tigers got banged up enough playing Christian County.

Caldwell was actually fortunate to put together the schedule it did. I think this new scheduling grid is making it tougher for teams to fill out schedules.

Caldwell County had the earliest running clock I have ever seen.
