Ky Football Stat Leaders (through Week 2)

Featured Replies

Of course, a lot, no, a ton of schools haven't submitted stat reports but here are our leaders nonetheless.

2013 KY Football Stat Leaders

Will never understand why teams don't post their stats. In this day and age of Hudl and film sharing why?

BTW don't tell me the Coach doesn't have time, I am sure if he wanted, he could find more than a few who would do it for him. Honestly it doesn't take that long!

Tough when the Head Coach teaches a full load of classes (at a place where he's expected to really teach those classes as well as any other teacher), goes to every JV/Frosh game, goes to watch several middle school & youth games a week, and grades film on his own team and prepares a scouting report on upcoming opponent every weekend.

Add to that, the interface used is not exactly "user-friendly" or efficient.

Fortunately, I have a great assistant who's willing to do this, but he had to volunteer to do it -- with all the other hours I ask them to spend for what works out to be a little over $1.00 an hour of pay, I'm not going to add to their workload by asking them to do it (they also teach a full load, watch lower level games, grade film, and scout opponents just as much as I do).

What is more frustrating, team that doesn't submit stats or a team that submits wrong stats?

Your finding the time to post on here during the school day. You must have a spare minute or two. It takes less than 10 minutes.

Not true--once you log in every player that played then go into a separate window for every stat field -- especially given the often-slow connect speeds in schools), takes much longer.

And I only post during my 20-minute lunch period (typing with one hand, eating with the other).

I know, I know...things are tough all over. Sorry I tried to defend coaches who aren't finding that extra 30-minutes a week to do this extra thing we're now required to do. High Schools don't have a Sports Information Director -- would be great if we did. Just trying to point out we have to wear LOTS of hats to get our jobs done while also working about 90 hours a week outside of our home life.

Some schools may have submitted stats after this list was compiled. I know Belfry, for example, has submitted their stats, but they aren't on the list. :idunno:

Besides my full time job at FedEx, I'm also a varsity asst. softball coach at NewCath and I make the time to log the stats after every game, as well as, post a game summary on this website. BTW, I'm an UNPAID coach for the last 4 years.

I completely understand your position, and glad you found someone do help you out. However, if we ask these kids to give 100% we should do the same for them, and posting their stats to give them the recognition for their hard work is the least we can do. These kids, especially boys, look at the stats and it's a shame when they look but don't see them .

I'm curious when this list is created as well. Covington Holy Cross is up-to-date. It tales more than 10 minutes (more like an hour to do it right without mistakes). We submit to KHSAA, Maxpreps, and the Enquirer. There are a lot of screens to go through for each category. Also, unfortunately, the stats company we use no longer has a partnership with Maxpreps which means we can't use the one-click import function anymore. All three sites are manual entry for me. But I enjoy the process especially when I get to put in that first ever tackle or first rush for 1 yard on a young player so that they get official credit.

NKypete, try having someone read the stats numbers to you, as you post them!

I have "The Boss" read me the stats as I post them, it gets done quicker and I am much more accurate in my posting when I don't have to go from the stats paper to posting them to the software.

Good idea, but my wife runs away from me when I am in stats mode. My stats are kept online (we are paperless). What helps when posting stats to these 3 websites is having Windows 7 and the stats website and the KHSAA website (as an example) on two screens that are docked side-by-side. Sometimes I can just copy and paste. Defensive stats are taken from a review of game film a day or so later. I take my time and do it accurately.

Mrs. Lawnboy knows better than to bother me when I'm doing the stats, I'm in my own little world. :lol2:
