I have heard really good reports on his development.

I'm looking forward to following his progress.

How does this happen? I thought Cooper had a feeder program?

It was ugly. Cooper looked to take a step backwards from when they played CCH last week. No defense at all, a lot of arm tackling.

On the other side, the one who really impressed me for Conner wasn't the QB, but #8 the wr, don't know his name. But he is a tall kid with really great hands. Will be Conner's top reciever in a couple years no doubt. Really great hands and makes some great catches look easy. He looked as if he could start on many varsity teams iin the area right now.

That is Cody Buckler and it will be interesting to watch him and Elijah Boyd compete for the qb spot on down the line. The one that is not the qb, will be a great wr/slot/rb for Conner. Boyd has made some tremendous progress at the qb position and works very hard at getting better. Both kids are very talented and fun to watch!

How does this happen you ask, in my opinion, it's the coaching. Cooper does have a feeder program, however, don't blame the feeder program (not that you are) for the freshman coaching and philosophy. The Union Jags have a very solid program, and last years 8th grade team was very good, however, it seems to me that there is a serious disconnect between the development of the players in the 8th grade to what happens when they are on the freshman team. It looks like, to me anyway, the freshman coaches have players out of position and the instruction that these boys received as 8th graders just isn't there anymore (tackling for one).

This frosh team did take a big step backwards from game 1 to game 2.

Hopefully, they can get things turned around in Union and the Jags can have a successful campaign the rest of the season.

Just calling it as I see it.

It just looks like the boys have taken a step backwards in their development from 8th grade to 9th grade and also from game 1 to game 2.
