Corbin, why would you schedule Trimble County? You can't say, "well we didn't know we were going to greatly overpower Trimble County." What is the reason for this game to take place? What was the thinking when planning to schedule this game? What is the benefit?

 

Trimble County 2013: 0-2 start.

Trimble County 2012: 1-9 only beating a 1A team that had the longest loosing streak in the state at the time.

Trimble County 2011: 2-8

Trimble County 2010: 1-9

Coach has been on hot seat with many Redhound faithful the last season or two. Maybe that has something to do with it. Plus Corbin had first losing season and suffered first district losses in many many seasons. Confidence building may be part of the thought process.

In Corbin's defense, Trimble Co is in a tough situation this year to fill games. As a TC fan (but looking from the outside in this year), construction will begin for our new stadium mid-season this year and we could only schedule three home games. My guess is that this was one of the weeks that we had difficulty scheduling someone and "luckily" Corbin needed a game, too.

 

Maybe that is just the way to look at it from our standpoint. Perhaps Corbin should have said no, regardless.

It tough to get games for a lot of schools, I'm glad these two were able to get their schedules filled.

If True Blue and Gold says it then that is good enough for me. That's tough situation to be in but I just don't feel either team benefits from this game. I am looking for to Trimble getting a new stadium. Hope it generates some excitement.

That's speculation on my part but as someone that has been in the know previously on decisions as such, it would make perfect sense to me. I agree that there may be no true benefit to either team. However, this will be the opening home game for the Raiders and only one of three for the season.

One other thing for a school like Trimble: Corbin has long been considered among the royalty of Kentucky football. When Corbin comes to town it is a big game. Even though Corbin will be a huge favorite, them coming to town should generate excitement among the players and community, providing an opportunity to see a pretty good team that you have likely never seen play before.

Corbin will have 200 or more take the long trip to Trimble Co. They have over 70 kids who dress and most of them will get some time in this one, so most of the families will travel to this game.

So even if we split the difference, could 100 people be there? I'm guessing that's more than most tiny 1A schools would bring up to Trimble County.

No they won't, the families know there will be a running clock and it will be a wasted trip to see little Johnny all star play 5 or 6 plays. Gas prices will stop that as will lack of interest and knowing it is a terrible game to pick up on Corbin's part.
