Scott's starters played 3 series and scored on 2 of the 3. Then they subbed their juniors who play zero varsity in to the game and that is when Walton had success on offense. Scott also kept in very vanilla on both sides of the ball. Base on defense (3-4) and power/counter on offense. Walton is a VERY GOOD 2A team. LLoyd and Walton are closing the distance on NCC, but it still is a rather large gap.

Walton did not have all their starters in this game either and did not run the defense they would have against Scott anyway. Offensive was very basic as well so I think that evens out. Also the format of the scrimmage was starters till half then non varsity starters the second half. If you look at JV results and I know there is only so much you can learn from it but last year Walton played Scott twice. In both games they lost by less then a touchdown so things are alittle more even than you think. All that being said I think Scott will have a good year and it will be driven by that huge line.

Consider that 90% of Scott's varsity team from last year were Juniors. The JV team that played Walton last year was the same JV team this year. Scott had 9 starters on offense that were Jr's and 8 on Defense were JR's. Those kids didn't play JV.

So do you believe Walton should be in the Top 10?

 

Honestly, it doesn't matter much to me if Walton is considered "top ten" status or not. I am fine with answering no, leave them out of the top ten list. I do believe, however that on the list or not, they still are capable of playing right with some of those 10 that are on the list. That is just my opinion....time will tell.
