Hard for me to say , I didn't see the McCack/ PT game so I have nothing to go on. However, It should be a big crowd and a great football atmosphere. Mayfield should be able to score and if they step up their defensive game I give them a shot to win this game. The game is at Mayfield so that plays in the Cards hands.

This will be a great test for both teams. McCracken has a very strong offensive line and a QB in Hughes that can give defenses fits with his legs. Jones is also a very highly skilled RB that is capable of breaking a big play at any time. he did most of his damage on punt returns against PT and the Cards need to be weary of that. The Mustangs also present a challenge to the Cardinal secondary as they have a few speedsters on the outside and a couple of bigger possession receivers. I wasn't that impressed with Hughes arm strength or his accuracy, but, those guys can go get the ball, so, if it's the neighborhood, they've got a chance for a big play. On the other side, Mayfield's passing game will give McCracken some problems and I like the Cards OL against the Mustangs DL. I also like Mayfield's kicking game and the fact that they're playing at home, but, more than anything else, this is a Mayfield team that most of the starters have a ton of big game experience under there belts and have a better sense of who they are. They know what to do and what there roles are, it's just a matter of execution. McCracken, although talented, I feel is still trying to find there identity and who they are and who can do what. If this game were 6-7 weeks into the season, I could see a different outcome, but, as it is, I think the Cards will win in a high scoring game. Mayfield 38 McCracken Co 28..

Scary game for Mayfield, a very tough opponent. I am hoping we can get it done but we will need to play a solid mistake free game to have a chance

Really looking forward to this one! I voted in the poll above, and of course, I'm biased and always will be.

I have all the respect in the world for the Mayfield football program. Nobody, I mean nobody, in this area has the tradition of Mayfield Cardinals football. I admire Coach Morris and his entire program.

McCracken's big key will be on the offensive and defensive line. With the loss of Evan Sayner (due to ejection in PT game) and Jack Moreland (injury in PT game), McCracken will have to rely on a little depth on the line to give Zyaire Hughes some time to operate.

I also look for McCracken to get Rasheed Jones more touches this game than he did versus Tilghman. He was electrifying as a punt returner Saturday night. Jordan Troutman also had an impressive debut for McCracken County.

Should be a dandy. I'll be researching Mayfield a bit more in the coming days. Any knowledge or insight on this year's Mayfield bunch is more than welcomed!

Good luck to all Friday night. Hopefully it can be just as exciting as Saturday night was.

Great post Mustang, I was just talking with your coaches and was going to mention the loss of the 2 linemen. I still feel that talent wide the Mustangs have a wide edge but I like the cohesiveness that Mayfield seems to have on offense. Our defense seems to still be working through things and should get better as time goes but this one may be a high scoring affair. If Hughes is a little more accurate, it maybe a long night for us.

Again I am sure McCracken will be underrated in this game as they were before the Tilghman game. Mayfield is better than Tilghman so McCracken will have to clean some stuff up this week in order to be just as competitive. After McCracken lost Sayner and then Moreland on Saturday against Tilghman their running game shut completely down so that is a real problem for them. McCracken also needs to make sure Jones is returning all punts and kickoffs. Ousley returned the kickoffs Saturday and while he is a really good athlete he doesn't have the breakaway speed that Jones has. McCracken also needs to clear up their kicker situation. Cannot miss two extra points against good teams. They have 2,000 students so maybe open tryouts should occur this week? I will take Mayfield here but again closer than people expect and if the Tilghman and Mayfield games had been later in the season I think things would possibly have been different.

Mayfield 28-14.

I still like Mayfield in this one 7. But I cant wait to hear some details on this one and see if the McCracken county team gets a lot of pressure on the QB.

Don't know how much the heat will become a factor in this game, but an early season game where a 6A school matches up against 1A Mayfield worries me. I could see the score being quite close to the Tornado/Mustang game... something like 28 to 21 or 27 to 20, with Mayfield coming out ahead. With Tilghman, Mayfield, and McCracken all playing each other in the first 3 weeks, we might have a good idea of how next week's MF/PT could unfold. Alot of folks thought Mayfield could lose a game or two during the first half of the season, and this game with McCracken could certainly be one of those.
