August 25, 201313 yr Poop. Laser to the LF. MJ is fired. Need HT to start a thread here, get the ship righted.
August 25, 201313 yr That sabermetric giant Frazier swings at the first pitch in the 9th when they're down 3 and need baserunners. stupid Anyone that doesn't understand the importance of OBP confuses me. Not to hard to understand that Choo and Votto are the most valuable b/c they get on base the most. Phillips has had a great year with RISP but it's probably a fluke b/c it usually evens out. Frazier and Bruce get on at almost the exact same clip and it's more often than Phillips, Cozart, Meso, Hannigan, Heisey and the like. If you really think getting on isn't the most important thing you're living in the 70's.
August 26, 201313 yr Author No need to fire me, I will gladly step down and let someone take the reigns. I had a good run.

And you don't know one iota about the game if you think it's a good idea to swing at the first pitch you see in the 9th when you need baserunners and your team is down three and your rearend needs to be on base in the odd event that Votto (who homered) and the guys in the middle of the order are coming up with a chance in this game. If you can't understand that, you wouldn't understand the game in any decade. And you act like OBP is new. That's just funny. OBP is extremely important, so is understanding situational baseball, which Jersey doesn't, and I doubt you do either with your comments occasionally.

I love it that we as fans think we know how a guy should approach his at bat. Frazier likes to swing at early fastballs. Votto likes extending AB's and working the pitcher. That's why they are good. They know how to hit the pitch they want to hit. The same people that cry about Votto taking too many pitches early in the count want Frazier taking pitches. I would be fine with BP being named this years team MVP. It's a fake award that means nothing. Votto is clearly a better player that is far better at creating runs for this team though offensively. He struggled on D this year and I agree with you that BP takes away a lot of runs on D. I would bet anything though that BP's AVG with RISP continues to drop like it has recently. Not sure you think that though.
August 27, 201313 yr If you get a good pitch to hit I don't care where it is in the AB. Why wait and possibly never get that pitch again? They aren't waking a ton of guys in the show.

YOu know better than that. You know the right thing in that situation with a guy you've never seen before is to take a pitch. Work the count and get on base. First pitch swinging in NEVER the best thing unless you fluke around and get a knock. The odds are terrible.
