McPap what is the problem with voters having to legally identify themselves to vote? They need an ID to cash checks, need one to rent a Rug Doctor, need one to pick up prescriptions, rent a movie at Blockbuster, drive a car, rent a home, to buy many over the counter meds and even to receive most Government Assistance...so if an ID is needed to complete all of that plus many more things that we all do on a daily basis, how does requiring one to vote inconvenience anyone or suppress those that can legally vote?

 

I don't have a fundamental problem with requiring an ID to present at the polling place, even if I don't have to.

 

But when the "initiative" happens shortly before the election, then the head of the House says it was done for the express purpose of ensuring the election of a particular candidate (but it didn't, it simply energized the other side); it passes no smell test known to man.

Yeah I completely understand what your issue is with that situation. I just don't understand as a whole my friends on the left think that requiring an ID is in any way a hardship or a way to keep voting down. I get asked for my ID every year and I've voted at that polling place for 12 years...:lol2:

The 2 party system as it is today will be the destruction of the US. The dems hate the repubs and the repubs hate the dems. Nothing can get accomplished because the 2 parties can't focus on the issues. If the dems support something, the repubs oppose it and vis versa. The elected officials can't make decisions on what's best for the US because they have to align with their respective party. Our political system has become a joke and its not working. It's just another example of our dysfunctional society.
