Does A-Rod deserve/receive life time ban?

Featured Replies

Not that I am opposed to seeing A-Rod out of baseball, something about this whole scenario just seems fishy to me. I have a theory that baseball tried with all of their power to nail Barry Bonds, make him the face of the steroid era so that everyone would forget about the other users and blame him it all on him, and that it would all go away when Barry went away. Well, Barry unlike A-Rod, could have given two craps about his image and continued to play through it all until he surpassed the HR record in spite of baseball's attempts to rid the sport of his presence before he got there. With that fail they need a new target to take on to be the final proverbial nail in the PED coffin. There is not a better candidate than A-Rod. He is mentally weak and does nothing but get in to his own way. I am not saying A-Rod is being framed, but from the onset of this most recent scandal something has seemed wrong about the Yankees and MLB overtly working together to bring him down. NY because they are trying to get out from under a contract they helped draw up, and baseball for the PED thing. MLB and teams should not be working in consortium as they are.

Is his contract voided if he is banned for life from baseball?

He probably deserves a suspension through the rest of his contract. But from what it sounds like that aint happening. the rest of 2013 and all of 2014 will suffice for me.

Not exactly sure on the language, but that certainly helps the Yankee's case. They are only in this to attempt to right the wrong of signing him to such a terrible contract. That is not A-Rod's fault and why none of this feels right to me.

Yeah I don't think the Yankees intentions are pure in this case either. The excesses of the 2000's for the Yanks are kinda biting them in the butt now.

I think baseball loved the chase by Bonds and didn't care one bit about steroids at first. Had they brought him down I doubt you see a lot of what we are seeing now.

No way. He was pretty much a known cheater before he hit his last 150 HRs. He just never buckled under the pressure of it all. Now baseball loved the '98 HR chase with McGwire and Sosa and knew all about the steroid problem at that time. They just came about a decade too late to the party before getting serious about it.

Agree to disagree I suppose.

Yes, baseball loved the '98 chase, but IMO they also loved the chase by Bonds. Everyone knew he cheated but few cared because all games he played in were sold out and television ratings were extremely high. MLB made a ton of money off of him and almost immediately after he reached the milestone they went after him, not before.
