I just got in Neerfan, Sk got a strong game out of Hester and Hurd!!

 

They simply do not come out of the lockerroom after halftime and play their game!!

 

This game mirrored the Henry Clay game at the Toyota Classic to a tee. Sk is totally in control the first ahlf and simply cannot function in their third quarters!!

If they could put it together for a full 32 minutes they would have a few more W's. We know they can play with some of the best now if they could only win a few more when they are the underdog. This game doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things but it's always nice when you win a few games when you aren't the favorite.

Don't know about the SK posters, but from what I saw Friday night, a lot of the CovCath posters were at the NDA Fathers/Daughters dance and having a ball. Lets see, going to a basketball game or having the chance to dance and talk all evening long with the most beautiful young woman in my life, my daughter and her friends and their Dads....... Not even close, and I know all of the others Dads were like me. :thumb:

 

There will be other games on other nights, but our daughters are only young for so long, and sooner than we would like, they will be gone off to college and then married to one of those boys from across the CovCath highway and the circle of life continues on.

I was there, a few observations....

 

CCH made two halftime adjustments that won the game for them.

1) Start fronting Hurd inside

2) Switch to a 3-2 matchup zone rather than man-to-man.

I haven't been to a lot of SK games but is there problem that they can not deal with the midgame adjustments of other teams? Or is it that they just are not motivated after the break?

 

-Kurt Bovard and Danny Noll are playing the best basketball of their lives lately.

-Hester is an incredible player with incredible quickness. With two more inches and 15 more pounds he is the best point guard in NKY, yes, over Duran.

-Schambach is one of the best three point shooters in Kentucky IMO

Simon Kenton was ahead at half. Then came out with no fire until late in the fourth when it was to late.

Sk also missed 6 front ends of one and one bonus free throws. This continues to be a problem for Sk.

 

To be honest I do think that CovCath made the neccessary halftime adjustments. I don't know what Steiner has to do to get Sk from coming out in the third Quarters flat?? :confused:

 

Bovard was huge for CovCath in the first half, his threes kept them from going into halftime with a doubledigit deficit.

 

Tierny was in foul trouble in the second half. This affected his game bigtime!!

 

I definitely think Hester, Jefferson and Tierny are the top three guards in northern ky, and not neccessarily in this order.

The FT's have been a problem, no excueses when you miss 6 front ends.

It seems whether or not Simon Kenton is leading or losing at the half the come out the same way, with their heads down. I dont understand this at all, why put your head down when your up by 7 to one of the top teams in Northern Kentucky or even when you are down by 7 to one of the top teams in Northern Kentucky. If the came out with some fire and intensity in them they would definately have a few more wins. But until they find that leader that will make them come out strong and pumped up in the second half, they better just try to blow out their opponents in the first half because that is when they stop playing their game.

SK biggest problem is not coming out fired up but the have to learn to adjust to what the other team gives them and they do not do that at all. Until they learn to do this they will have trouble winning the big game.

Mr. Vories might have something to say about that, I think you take those three add Vories and then it is anybody's guess on the order, cause they are all great ball players.
