I've seen people on my Facebook talking about how they thought the episode was bad and they were disappointed, etc.

 

1. Half of those people were girls that really have no clue about the show and what it stands for.

 

2. What do you expect? They just made it through a horrific war against a terrible foe and it cost them friends and family and now they're all separated. Are they not allowed to be sad, angry, exhausted (both mentally and physically)? Although part of me disliked the way Carl acted the other part of me looked a little deeper into what he was saying and realized he's right. He has saved Rick, he told Rick he didn't protect them and while the Governor was building an army Rick was planting crops and shying away from people learning to protect themselves. Carl's right, the people looked up to Rick and he failed them in a sense. And also, of course Carl is upset he just lost his sister (still unknown) to a walker and she was that sign of hope for the group. Yes, the comics has her dying and it's probably inevitable she dies anyway but still we forget that in the show he's probably just 13 or so. I'd be quite upset and broken had I just lost my baby sister and a mentor, not to mention my mom just a few months before that. Now the turning point comes when Carl realizes he isn't quite ready and that he needs his dad and more so they need each other. It's something Carl had to realize and discover on his own and he did, now they can move on.

 

Michonne had a great part in tonight's episode as well. It's the first time we've seen any kind of look into her past and while it was a short one it was definitely effective. Now we know why she held Judith so close and cried, it's because she had a baby boy as well.

 

The pace will pick up but I think it's critical to show what's happened to the group after this incident and for those who expect nonstop action throughout every episode then you're watching the wrong show because unlike other shows this takes time in developing the story (although sometimes the pace drags) and I think they've done a solid job during season 4.

This episode sucked. The Michonne (sp?) parts were pretty good though.

 

I also hated how they almost made it seem like Rick died. Good lord who didn't see that coming? And why was he reaching for Carl like a zombie while he has a gun pointed at him? And when Carl puts the gun down...he finally has a voice?? That was stupid.

Loved the episode. I was thoroughly entertained throughout.

Loved the missing shoe, thought it was hilarious when Carl was eating on the roof and window walker could not get him. Just really enjoyed all the details and special affects.

So why can Michonne walk with the walkers? Remember they smell live humans. Earlier episode where Rick and Glenn had to cover themselves with innards to walk through the Walkers?

It's a symbol that Carl needs Rick and no matter how tough he acts towards Rick he still loves him. He could shoot his mom but couldn't shoot Rick.

So when Rick is weak and can't speak and has a gun pointed at him he thinks its a good idea to look and sound and move like a zombie towards the person with the gun? C'mon that was just downright silly. I'm a fan of the show and I realize most of it will be highly unrealistic. But at times this show is just stupid. This was one of those times.

The head of Hershel on Talking dead was pretty freaky as well.

 

Solid start to what appears to be a great season.

It's not the smell of a human that attracts them. You've seen people hide as walkers go by. Especially early in season 2 when they're on the highway and hide behind cars and stuff. They're attracted to the movement as well. Michonne with 2 bloody walkers are going to overpower a smell of a normal human and with her not running or making sudden movements she blends in with them.

I jumped several times while watching it. It was cool! Nothing like sitting on the edge of your seat, getting your heart racing !

I have to agree with HB20, but I've been overall disappointed in the show since they moved into the prison. Almost to the point of saying forget it. I do think maybe it's taking a turn for the better, the finale was pretty solid, but my skepticism is tough to hide. I agree about the Carl/Rick deal. Reaching for him like a Zombie was cheddar cheese at it's finest.
