Andrew Bynum signs with Cavs

Featured Replies

Didn't want Noel because of his knee but they sign Bynum for twice what Nerlens would have made.

If he stays relatively healthy and can play 30 minutes or so most nights then he offers FAR more that what Nerlans would have, no comparison really. Plus, the way the contract is written, it would be in his best interest to" make sure" he is and stays healthy if you know what I mean.

Or just throwing money down the drain. 10% of the salary cap. If he's healthy they will just be good enough to sneak in the playoffs and not get a lottery pick in this loaded draft.

6 million to a potential all star compared to what they pay to some of these other players is low risk to me.

Why do people think there is even a remote chance LBJ goes back to Cleveland? Nobody remembers Dan Gilbert's farewell message?

^ Doesn't matter if you or I think there is a chance- only two people's opinion matter on this one; Dan Gilbert's because he writes the checks and, ultimately, Lebron's because he will have the opportunity to cash them.

I think it's a good signing. However, would they have been better off being awful and getting another high pick (not signing Jack and Bynum) and stocking the cabinet for a LeBron run that way?

A rookie wouldn't impress LeBron. A healthy Bynum could. Which of those rookies would LeBron want to play with? Maybe Julius Randle?

Kyrie, Waiters, Jarrett Jack, Bennett, Earl Clark, Tristan Thompson, Bynum- I am liking what the Cavs have done. Two big questions- 1. Can this team stay healthy ( not just Bynum, but also Kyrie)? 2. Is this enough to make Lebron come home after 2014?

I do think this team can make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed- which is a better supporting cast than Lebron ever had in his time there.

It might be. It makes them an option to consider.

They're gambling on LeBron.

Sam Bowie, Greg Oden and now Andrew Bynam. Some people never learn. I would have passed on Noel also.

As long as it is a big guy, teams will be willing to take a chance because they are so rare. Patrick Ewing had injury concerns going into the draft. You had to wait on a military commitment for David Robinson.

Really the bottom line is if a GM likes the player, they will take a risk on injury, character or other issues.
