Good year to be a Panda fan. Can't explain it but I am sure some will have thoughts.

Voleyball, soccer, swimming and tennis are common. Basketball hasn't been as common and this is the first fastpitch title since about 99.

As Guru points out those are self-imposed limitations that other schools put on themselves. Truly, only the Boone schools have those district limitations.

Ah true, but money is not a self imposed limitation. Some don't have it to go to Notre Dame for the "stated price" of an education there.

Not every family has money to burn whose child attends NDA. We surely didn't and our daughter didn't even play sports but my wife and I cleaned at the school daily for three year so our daughter could attend NDA and it was more than worth it to her and us!

I would say more money=more opportunity.

 

Better private coaches, travel teams, equipment etc. Look I am a great fan of the last NDA hoops coach and hope the Panda girls win state in softball. Mercy won it all last year in softball and they are a Catholic school from Louisville. Owensboro Catholic is a powerhouse in softball. I am certainly not saying because you were born in Paducah to Catholic parents and attend Saint Whatever that you will be a star athlete, but to sacrifice as TOG's family did or to have lots of extra cash to send your child to a Catholic institution can certainly have its advantages. (Isn't that the point of the Catholic education anyway?) If there were not advantages, then nobody would send their kids to Catholic schools. The advantages can be personal, religious or athletic, but there are supposed advantages.

I'll partly agree that there can be some advantages. My point is that Union has a lot of money in the town. Ft Mitchell has a lot of cash as well. Ft T has high wage-earners. When it costs you $5k to $6k per year it limits the number of talented athletes that show up if they have other strong options.

Completely agree, and Union with Ryle has been "the team" for several seasons. Highlands from Ft. Thomas is certainly on the rise in softball. Beechwood-2012 a good year. 2013-back to reality. So it does seem that there is an equivalency between money and success in girls softball in Northern Kentucky. NDA, Ryle and Highlands are always pretty solid in girls hoops too. If NDA can go on a good run here for the next few years in softball (and I see no reason why they will not-good coach, good players), then you can pencil them in the region every year.
