Ryle 4 Dixie Heights 0 (9th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

Ryle lost their District Championship. I couldn't think of any reason why Dixie wouldn't have been the home team.

Oops. You're right. Pre-set then by brackets.

Ryle was the home team because the coaches decided before the draw to determine home by a coin flip. The flip determined that the bottom bracket was home.

Boo, that would make sense if both were district winners but I think in this case Dixie should have been home team. If Dixie was the home team, they would have scored 5 in the bottom of the seventh for another walk off!!:walk::ylsuper: jk Congrats Raiders!!

Technically, if you took the season record of the two teams playing each other, Ryle beat Dixie 11-1 at Ryle, and 3-2 on Dixie's home field. And Ryle beat St. Henry during the regular season and yet they were the visiting team during the semifinals.. So I think really the whole idea of who is the home team and who is not during the regionals, should be chosen based on the merit of the regular season and head to head competition if the teams making the regionals are involved.

[it's a shame there wasn't any room on the all tournament team for Jake Ashley. He did an outstanding job defensively and handling the pitchers. He has been super all season as well.QUOTE=Theoldguy;4696893]Ninth Region All Tournament team: From Richard Skinner NKy.com

All-Tournament Team:

Ryle – Mason Forbes (MVP), Tyler Lonnemann, Ethan Brennan, Thomas Baumann

Dixie Heights – Garrett Combs, Seth Caple, Ethan Harrison

St. Henry – Mitchell Kuebbing, Peter Markgraf

Beechwood – Ethan Stringer, Jason Suchanek

Highlands – Quinten Murray

Covington Catholic – Nico Pangallo

Boone County – Trey Ganns

Newport Central Catholic – Josh Cain

I agree, when Ashley threw out Fogle and Ross from Conner during the regular season a college coach came to him and said you are my starting catcher next year! Great kid, he has some power still yet to be seen at State.
