What a phenomenal HS baseball game. Two of the best pitchers in the region just going at it and leaving it all on the field. Harrison Co. got the big hit in this game that Campbell Co. couldn't. That's just baseball.

 

Congrats to Harrison Co. on the W and to Campbell Co. on a great season.

 

Coach Whitaker said after the game that it was worthy of being a state championship game, and if anyone knows, he would.

It seems like Mac Whitaker has been coaching at Harrison County for 50 years.

it should never get to that .. just play the game. Really? And what if Harrison was up big and Martin plucked a player as a result of the harassment? Everybody would be complaining.

 

Like I said .. it should never get to that, and the CC coach should prevent it from happening. Sounds like it was almost encouraged, based on the post-game compliment.

 

Obviously, you did not hear Coach Schweitzer during the game.

I am sure that the KHSAA and Whitaker Bank Ballpark is happy to have Harrison back at state. They usually bring 1000+ to every game they play there.

It wasn't however a game where the Camels were dominated by a superior Harrison team this day. Harrison wins 1-0.

 

Martin surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out five.

 

Walsh gave up three hits while walking three batters and striking out nine.

 

Martin threw 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes, while Walsh threw 62 of his 94 pitches for strikes.

 

Each team charged with an error.

Campbell county did nothing but try to get in Martins head the entire game. The head coach for Campbell county came up to Jordan after the game and told him how impressed he was with handling all the harrasment during the game.

 

Why isn't Martin being recruited by even the mid major colleges in Kentucky? Seems baffling, he's shown what he can do on the mound since his freshman year. Has he commited to anyone?

Youngstown state and Northern Kentucky have offerer him. I was told Eastern had him 87-88 but wasnt impressed with his curveball and was asked to walk on. He told me he was going to make his decision after the season was over but is leaning towards Wabash valley junior college.
