He's a smart guy and I'm sure he realizes that there is a world of difference in coaching AAU where you can pick your players, tell parents to take their kid and leave, have no politics and no administration to answer to, and school ball. Not to mention that the level of opposing coaching on a high school bench is far superior to most he has faced in the AAU ranks.

 

Don't get me wrong, I think he'd do a good job, but there will be many more hurdles to clear, especially at Ryle, then in AAU.

Don't disagree with the hurdles. Do disagree respectfully that he wouldn't match up well against any High School coach in the 9th region.

If I'm correct...name has already been mentioned on other forums! He is a great guy and I think would do a great job. There certainly is an adjustment from AAU to high school, but if you have the passion (which he does), you can make it work. It may not be instant success, but it can work.

If you look back at my comment you will see that I said nothing about how he would match up against other 9th region coaches, but even you have to admit that coaching against Fookes, Levendusky, and Stamm will be a bit more challenging than little Suzy's dad or some wannabe coach that never was able to secure a job at the high school level coaching AAU He's a good guy, and a good AAU coach, but the hurdles are many and high. And the transition from AAU to school ball is not an easy one.

I don't think you have seen much High Level AAU ball. Some of these guys and gals are terrific coaches and choose to coach High Level AAU because it is more challenging than High School Basketball. Just one example Nancy Winstel is a AAU Coach I think all her little Suzy's have done quite well.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that not everyone that's a good Coach chooses to coach High School. Some like coaching at the AAU level some can't commit to the schedule or practice times for High School there are a number of reasons. I was just pointing out that your assumption that AAU coaches are wannabe's in some cases is true but in most is not. I know many AAU coaches who have turned down High School jobs for various reasons.
