Mason 61 Fleming 42

Sullivan was gracious it could have been a lot worse.Four of the 5 that starts played very little is why i say that .

Sullivan is just taking out his frustrations of getting hammered when he was the coach at St. Patrick. I dont care if the last 5 on your bench is playing with a lead that large you should be back in a 2-3 zone not pressing. Thats not very classy at all.

Good win for the Royals. Allways a 10th region best rivalry.

The only problem Devilman is that Fleming is now in the 16th region. ;)

So, if your coaching philosophy is to press, and the press gets you a big lead, and you bring in your reserves, they're supposed to abandon the coaching philosophy because the other team is getting whipped? I don't get it.

Someone on another thread said something like this: When you win by 30, you've played a great game. When you win by 50, you have no class.

It's up to the other team to stop you. If they can't, too bad. You didn't hear me crying when Scott County beat up on the Royals a few weeks ago.

When someone takes you to the woodshed (figuratively speaking), you take your lumps, you work on the reasons you got the whipping. Hopefully, things will improve. If you have philosophical issues with the way a particular opponent plays, maybe you don't need to be scheduling them anymore (although I would hate to see the Fleming-Mason rivalry end just because the Mason JV beat up on the Fleming JV; I've always enjoyed the game atmosphere in the Fieldhouse as well as in the Den).

Speaking of class, (and at the risk of getting the thread shut down by a moderator) I thought that the Fleming student section's cheer was particularly classy.

I never saw Coach Wells run the score up on teams when he could've. I guess there is a different class at Mason now.

I really don't remember that far back wasn't Mason Co state champs one year and state runner up the next? I was pretty young back then. Didn't those teams lead the state in scoring? I don't remember I was pretty young back then. Any of these teams from outside the region? I just don't remember.

Red, which is it? Did you see the games but not remember them? I'm confused.

I'm not sure why it's important, but yes, Lewis County is from outside the 10th Region. Is it OK to thump your regional competition but not the teams outside your region? And you remembered correctly - Mason County won in 2003 and was runner-up in 2004. But I'm confused again. Is it OK to thump your opponents if you're a great team but not OK if you're not so great? I'm just trying to figure out where you're coming from.

PS, the memory doesn't get better with age; I can tell you from experience that once you pass 50 things go downhill in a hurry!

I just dont understand why you guys think he ran up the score on you so much because he didnt,Browning,Setty,Stahl and the Hammer play the majority of JV minutes in most games and do the majority of everything for the JV.But he didnt play these four hardly at all during this game and none toward the end.So if you beleive this true you just havent seen Our JV play this year cause you know without these 4 playing much you cant go much easier,Bottom line Fleming just couldnt put the ball in the hole.Good luck to the panthers the rest of the way end of this discussion moving on the Rowan Friday Nite.

One year in the districy tournament at Fleming Co, Mason played Fleming and pressed and was ahead 30 - 0 before Fleming ever scored. This is when Fleming and Mason was not playing during the season. If Fleming would not have scored, Coach Wells would have never let up.

I dont believe that is correct it was a regular season game and the score was 30-3

I agree if a team gets whipped in a game then they get over it and try to do better, what I argue is why press in the 4th quarter? If that is a coaching philosophy it is a new one to my knowledge. Another word for coaching philosophy could be no class because thats what it was. And why would you cry when you got beat 27, thats a respective whipping, there is a difference between 27 and 50+ points. And dont worry, nobody wants to stop scheduling Mason the way they did when Fleming was goin to the state tournament, thats not our Philosophy, we'll play and play hard, maybe get it handed to us but dont worry about that.

I don't think it was just because Fleming went to the state tournament. I believe there were a couple other factors that were very publicized at the time.
