Report: Magic, Hornets Would Trade Rights to No. 1 Pick Nerlens Noel

Featured Replies

The Orlando Magic and New Orleans Hornets would both strongly consider trading the rights to the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, according to SheridanHoops.com.

“Sources around the NBA have told SheridanHoops that if the Orlando Magic or New Orleans Hornets win the lottery, they both would be strongly inclined to trade the pick to whichever fellow lottery team wants to pay the most for the right to draft Nerlens Noel.

I could see why the Hornets (Pelicans) would, but not sure I understand why the Magic would, unless they are scared of having Nerlens become great and then leave (Shaq, Dwight).

Could the Pelicans not move AD to the 4 ala Tim Duncan and put Noel at the 5?

(Sorry...Keep Davis at the 4 and put Noel at the 5)

If the plan is for Davis at the 5, the problems are much deeper than imaginable...

You mean Noel? I was talking about putting AD at the 4 and Noel at the 5

No. I mean Davis is not, and will never be, a 5 in the NBA. Nothing to move. If they plan to use Davis at the 5, they will suck any way you slice it...

Ok then back to my original post, would Noel at the 5 and AD at the 4 not work?

No reason to see why it couldn't...

OK now that were on the same page, why would they not look to keep Noel if they got the first pick?

Bad management???

Isn't the five changing in the NBA? How much longer will we see the really big guys in there? Oden's injuries, Noel, Davis, Amare, Bynum, Howard's injuries? Noah is always hurt but plays. Of course there is an injury bug everywhere in basketball now but still. How much longer will teams play with a banger at the five? The best team in the league has a Davis type body at the five. He's going to have to put on weight but he may end up being a five in the new NBA if teams continue to change their style of play.

With the previous statement I made I'd still keep Noel and try for a twin towers. Could be a heck of a defensive team with those two.

Davis is, was and always will be a 4 in the NBA. That's his skill set. He is an over sized guard with a great feel for the game inside and out.

The 5 is changing, but it isn't to guys that are as true as it gets at the 4...

I've just wondered if the five is being phased out. To me it seems like most of the guys playing center would have been power forwards 10 years ago. Blame Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.
