Please note the following changes in the CovCath Baseball Schedule

 

CovCath game today 4-29-13 Vs. Elder has been cancelled.

 

CovCath double header on Saturday 5-4-13 with Moeller and Highlands has been cancelled.

 

 

CovCath game next Monday 5-6-13 with McNick has been cancelled.

Game limit issue with those 3?

What is the regular season limit? My Holmes math would seem to indicate 42 but is it that many?

More so with the Ohio schools that can only play 27 games in a season. Elder has played 15 games already and has 11 more games on the schedule not counting the cancelled game against CCH. All but one game remaining on Elder's schedule is against Ohio teams.

 

Elder also has 3 games that have been postponed as well against Ohio teams that I would suspect will be rescheduled especially if they have an impact on seeding.

You are correct. According to the bylaw, teams can play a maximum of 36 games prior to KHSAA district tournament competition. My self, I would like to see KHSAA/NFHS make it 40 games per season for both baseball and softball.

I understand the game limits, but why cancel the games against the good teams? Cancel the dog games. Seems like a grab at a better record unless the predicted weather this weekend was the factor.

If you knew Krumps which I am sure you don't, you wouldn't even be thinking that. Cancelling the Elder game, killed him (Elder Grad back in the early 70's).

 

Remember the Ohio teams can play even fewer game that we in Ky can, so it wasn't just a one sided decision by CovCath!

 

BTW who in NKy has played as many top five teams vs. KY teams, as CovCath has?

In most years Mother Nature takes care of the KHSAA limit. 36 games in what amounts to an 8-9 week regular season equates to around 4 games per week, which is not an unreasonable number. I was surprised to learn that Ohio limits the number of games to 27.

Especially when Frosh and JV swept them last night......(Frosh 13-4), JV won by 1 (not sure of the score.)

 

 

Horst.......the Lex Cath tourny on turf (and the availability of Freedom) helps keep the #'s up. We are playing a lot of the early games that usually get cancelled, because of the turf.......
