Up north we had problems with seagulls in roofs and eaves. We used to use a product called Tanglefoot Bird repellant. It doesn't hurt them, but they hate it. Don't know if it would work in your application or not.

As far as the bird attacking the window. It's a male who sees his own reflection and thinks it's another male, so he tries to chase him off. Birds really are stupid. I've heard tons of different attempts at stopping it. Several have already been mentioned. But basically you need something that breaks the reflection. I've heard those colored things that you put in suction cups can work. The best thing I know of though is a light on the inside, because then they can't see a reflection.

I have found that the blast from my shot gun discourages the birds that survive from returning.

The plot thickens! I went to show my wife our new pet and he had a sibling in the tree! I have never seen a snake in a tree, now I have seen two in the same day? Anyone need a rodent reducer for their house? Or maybe someone has a plane to put them on?

The nasty buggers upped the ante today, producing about twice as much nest material in their desired spot atop the motion light. Included amongst it were large amounts of dung for binding material, which was great fun to clean up not once this morning, but again a few minutes ago when I stopped by the pad in between appointments.

 

In addition, I think it's getting personal, as there were fresh droppings near the door handle of my car, which is the only way I can get into the vehicle because I don't have the alarm trigger. I'm considering pepper spray as my next method of escalation.

Been battling birds nesting atop my front porch light for many years and nothing ever worked long term. Noticed they have not built this year, then have seen a black cat hanging around the yard the past week. I am not a cat man by any means but I'm not shooing this one away from the house!

They finally gave up for good last week, a couple days after their all-out day that I referenced in my previous post. And no unnecessary bird blood on my hands.
