Notre Dame 8 Highlands 2

Featured Replies

The lady Birds come up short against Notre Dame. Smith pitched a good game and the Pandas kept Highlands from getting any thing going. Congrats Notre Dame.

Highlands seemed to struggle a bit in the field as well.. It was a chilly evening for sure, but nice to be on that side of the fence for once.

Yeah I think Highlands had 4 errors, that's 4 to many against a team as good as Notre Dame.

Coach Coffey has done some good work with the girls. I am sure we will be seeing good things from Highlands.

I was definitely NOT dressed for this one. Quite a few BGP'ers in the crowd for this one.

Smith pitched a very good game and was hitting her spots. She had great movement on her ball from my vantage point, behind the backstop. The Birds did not help themselves on quite a few plays, especially the 1st ND run where the rightfielder makes a catch and the ND runner tags and is out by 2-3 steps, but the Highlands 1st baseman (who is new to the position) cuts the throw.

One thing that impressed me though, after Shelby Graybill laced a single the next batter Dutcher lays down a very nice bunt, without hesitation Graybill pays a visit to the 2nd base bag and continues on into third. It just shows this young lady knows the game and was looking ahead and realized no one was covering 3rd. Although Haylee Smith raced over to take the throw, she was not in time.

Very hard working catcher & plays the game well! Had to hold my breath each time she was up hoping Haylee didn't feed her up a biscuit to crush.

No lack of passion in her game.

Although Haylee, Shelby, or Maria Schaffer don't need it to go yard, the wind was blowing out quite well. I was hoping to see one of these three "launch" one today.

I know I wasn't dressed for it. Would've liked to had finally met Lawnboy13, paNDA, etc.

Save those biscuits for Holy Cross.

I am not sure I remember a player quite like Graybill in the 9th region since I have been following. She may become the best hitter in the area and even if she isn't I am pretty sure she will be the most feared hitter in the region for several years.

I'm not hard to pick out, the NewCath hat should of been a dead giveaway.

Yes. You need to upgrade some of your garb. You still wearing those all white nikes that you bought 10 pairs of the one time from A-Pass?

Same with me...easy to spot a guy in black and red, when both teams wear blue.

Kuddos to the ND coaches and grounds crew (okay parents) for getting the field ready! There is passion to play in Panda world.

I've had the joy of coaching her for a couple years now, lots of fun to watch. A great student of the game Shelby is!
