JMU31
As a whole I would say since I started watching softball 6 years ago in NKY this may be the most improved position in the area. It's early but the pitching we have seen at HC and the other games I have watched it seems to be improved overall improved to what we have faced in years past. IMO that is great for the game, its so much better watching a softball game when their is decent pitching. HC played Bellevue last night and I was very surprised at how well Maddie Blevins threw. I haven't seen her in several years, and she may or may not be a top 10 pitcher in the area but on speed alone she for sure is. HC ended up winning the game by run rule but that had more to do with Bellevue's inability to catch the ball more so than her pitching.

I have known Maddie for years, she has always thrown this hard. Unfortunately she has no one that can catch her or a program where she could progress. With all due respect to Bellevue, but if she went to NewCath or Highlands more people would know about this young lady and her arm. I would say she throws as hard as ANY pitcher in the 9th, including the top 3. BTW, one of the most polite and respectful young ladies you'll ever meet, and a 30 on her ACT to boot. :thumb:

Yeah I agree, I think if she was on a different team we would be talking about her as one of the best in the area. I am surprised she didn't have a family member that attended NCC or HHS and then transfer to one of those schools!! I have heard she is a good hitter also. She is a member at St. Therese Parish in Southgate and her cousin was a 5 year player at NewCath so she could have been a Bred, but mom & dad didn't want to pay for tuition. It sure would have been nice to see her in blue n gold.

Clyde
I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that's it's gotten better. I go back to 05-08 and the pitching talent was solid then (of course Kirsten Allen is in another conversation) but I think there is more depth now. Heck, NDA has 3 varsity pitchers today. I think more girls are getting started at a younger age and we're starting to see it at the varsity level. Daughter of my best friend is a 6th grader who is a pitcher. Her talent level today is the same or better than many schools' varsity pitchers back when my daughter played.

I know I have enjoyed watching games more this year than in years past and I think its mainly bc the pitching is better.
JMU31
Clyde, Who was NDA's pitcher in the 08 or 09 year? Did she end up going anywhere to play? I thought she was one of the better pitchers back then.

Lydia Duvall. Very good pitcher and an even better kid. I believe she wound up playing for Thomas More for a couple years.
