How many coaches have been fired at Minnesota? Ben Howlin leaves Pitt and takes UCLA to three straight final fours during his tenure and gets fired. How many coaches have been fired from UCLA? Maybe he should have stayed at PITT. I saw a report that listed Smart as one of the top 10 highest paid coaches salary wise at VCU.
March 28, 201313 yr VCU is not changing conferences at this point... ...although it does seem inevitable. And by keeping Smart, the odds of VCU in a strong(er) conference seems to be even more likely.

Job security wise it makes sense to stay at VCU but he would make double in 5 years at UCLA or Minny, fired or not. So you have a job and 7.5 mill in 5 years or maybe no job and 15 mill in 5 years.
