Apart from the Louisville defense, the stars yesterday at Rupp Arena were the North Carolina A&T pep band, cheerleaders and mascot. It's great how serious the HBCU's take their bands and I wish more schools would take as much care as they do. I sat right behind them and after every song, the large horn players across the back row were breathing hard and near sweating; like the athletes on the floor, they absolutely gave it their all. And it showed. They were LOUD.

 

And the mascot was an unreal dancer who absolutely put on a show in our corner of the arena.

I laugh at the people saying that 16,000 Louisville fans was a "weak" turnout. How many other teams played there? Five? Yeah, weak. :lol2:

I think there's at least something to that.

 

1) There was no doubt that Louisville was going to roll these guys. Why make the drive to watch a beat-down then turn right around and drive home?

 

2) Given that it was going to be a blowout, who wants to spend three hours in a terrible bleacher seat in Rupp's upper levels? If I didn't have a lower level spot with a seat-back, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Next up is Colorado State.

Unfortunate. They were one thousand percent better than these abominations. I loved the infrared. We should have infrared uniforms for all our teams. Infrared football uniforms -- if done correctly -- could be absolutely spectacular.

 

But we wouldn't have last year's... they would be still be the Zubazz with sleeves, just orange. I think Jurich made the right call.

Exactly my thoughts. NCAT was a guaranteed win. No questions asked. Then you add in the money, as you said, for the terrible upper level seating. Not worth it, IMO. Had the game been tonight, I think you may have seen a few more people there. Tomorrow night, I expect it to be filled to the brim. I'll be there tomorrow.

Absolutely. Don't have a ticket for Saturday; should be hopping. I think Butler/Marquette should be a dandy as well for those fortunate enough to be making the trip.

True enough. If they were these uniforms just in infrared, they'd look like Joan Miro designed them. At some point there's just too much going on to really look at them for very long.

The only reason I said it was weak was because I was at YUM! Last year for the UK-WKU game and it was filled all the way to the top. 22K I believe. I understand its a different animal with UK fans, but playing in an NCAA tournament game an hour down the road, I would think more than 14-15K Cards fans would make the trek. Not many chances you get to play an NCAA tournament game in the greatest basketball arena ever built an hour away . Just expected more. Saturday it will be packed though I'd imagine.

The only empty seats were those that were allotted to the other schools... The Louisville fan base was VERY well represented, and will be even more so tomorrow night.

Even with numbers reported by UK (and I'm sure they were honest, they always are for their football attendance after all) the announced attendance was 16,600.

Haha touché even those are NCAA numbers but I'd say there were 1000 "other" fans there which makes no difference. Wait, why am I arguing over this?
