9th region All-A Final

NCC jumped out to a 16-2 lead and never trailed. Holy Cross trailed 16-6 after one quarter. NCC widened the lead to 28-17 at the half. Holy Cross got within 28-23 before NCC widened the lead again.

 

In the fourth quarter the lead stayed around 7 to 11 points until Holy Cross threw in a couple of three pointers around missed NCC foul shots. Lead was down to 48-45 but NCC made enough foul shots in the end to win 52-45.

 

Kiernan was MVP and HC had no answer all night for him. NCC drifted a few times and forgot to get it to him and fired a couple of three balls up for no good reason with under two minutes to go.

 

Holy Cross couldn't get the three point shooters open all night until they were down so far that they had to shoot them, and then NCC didn't extend the defense after doing so all night. And HC started hitting them, but it wasn't enough.

WAY TO GO NEWCATH!!!!! THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE BREDS....IN ALL SPORTS!

No surprise to me either. Congrats to NewCath..

Detzel does a good job with those guys.... they have good guards, great shooters and the Big fella played a great tournament. Their depth is lacking so they may not make it far in the All A but I am glad they beat the Indians.

I just believe that Holy Cross should have won this game. I'm not taking anything away from NCC, they have a great team this year but if Holy Cross had come ready to play like they had Friday night then it would be a completely different turn out.

You are correct.... and I guess you can say that for about 100 other High school teams across the state who lost over the weekend. You have to be ready to play, especially in the Championship game. The better team won, just deal with it.
