Should be a good tourney at KBA this weekend for State championship. Are all of the top AAU teams in KY playing this weekend for the State title?

 

KY Premier, Shining stars. Lady Tigers, Focus, Jags?

 

Has anyone heard if the Mercy girl is ok after her knee injury in the Bowling Green tourney?

People play on AAU teams for different reasons. Exposure, skill improvement, etc. some people are just trying to get better for their high school team and don't want to play at the next level. But like them are not, if I am a sophomore or junior and i am invited to play for Kentucky Premier, I would play for them if I want to play at the next level. Simply put, college coaches like the organization and show up to watch them at exposure events. My daughter played for many AAU teams, several that I liked better than Premier, but no team brought college coaches like the Premier. And her college coach still talks about going to scout the Premier teams, so you have to give them credit for accomplishing that kind of excitement for Kentucky players.

 

Agree! If you are invited by Ky Premier you need to play for them. They will do all they can to get the players recognized by colleges. College coaches respect their teams and coaches. If I'm not mistaken every one of their seniors received college scholarships. Epps, Rogers, Hardin, Cox, Sandlin, Jones and that is only a few. Sorry, can't remember all of them.

Do you know if Kentucky Premier is playing this weekend @ KBA for the state AAU championship?

No. Kentucky Premier only plays exposure or where the evaluators will be in attendance. Next tourney is Nike Midwest Showdown in Mason Oh over Memorial Day. Three of the 17U Parmley players will not be there that weekend because they are at USA basketball tryouts.

I see that they do play on other teams. Saw one of the premier girls playing at KBA in state aau tourney.

Congrats on winning another AAU state championship. I was there watching and was impressed with quite a few of the Shining star players. The PG Abby was extremely good with the ball and awefully quick. The post players (especially #1 where very good around the basket at using their body to get shots off and rebound effectively)

 

The semi-final game was the chanpionship game. Good win, but that call with little time on the clock was hugely questionable that sent shining stars to the line for the bonus.

 

The Focus team had some impressive yonger players on it as well.

I agree that was a a huge call. #1 Kiernan had 22pts and 10 Reb in that game and your right Abby is extremely quick and makes it pretty tough to press that team. Hats off to the Focus in that game they played very well.

The Semi Final game between Shining Star Sports and Louisville Focus was an ugly offensive game for both teams. We really struggled to finish around the basket.

 

The big girl for the Focus played very well. She is a nice player. Anyone know her name and where she plays?

 

I was very proud of our girls for finding a way to win and advance. Questionable call or not I give Sarah Futscher a ton of credit for being able to step to the line and knock down both free throws to give us the victory. Very clutch!
