Ironlung Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Great game to watch. It'll be a war on Feb 8 at Beechwood when the district seeding game is played! HC up 40-31 and Beechies go on a 13-1 run to make a game of it. Beechwood proved they have other players besides Romes who can shoot the ball. Beechwood has played HC, CCH, Holmes & South Laurel tough. They could be a real sleeper in the regional if they can get out of the toughest district in NoKY.
porter22 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Wow! I predicted the tigers by 15! Had you seen HC play before that prediction??!!
BigStud Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Listening on the radio it seemed HC could have put away a little earlier with some better FT shooting.

No way they knock off Holmes or CovCath in a district semifinal game in order to make it to the regional tourny.
BigStud Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Beechwood's season is over when district time comes around. HC vs Beechwood games is playing for a glimmer of hope on Feb.8th, I just don't see any team beating Holmes. CCH their is a possibilty.
BGGreen Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Congrats indians...good luck tomorrow night. Ditto!! :thumb:
porter22 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 How did Romes do? Who guarded him? Romes had a good night. I'm not sure how many he had, but his rebounding was very impressive as many points came off of stick-ins. Several reverse layups and nice moves around the basket. Paul Laible guarded him a lot and played great on the ball defense. Romes really had to work on the boards or run the floor to get most of his points.
Mixdup Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 How did Romes do? Who guarded him? Romes had around 22-24 points. The Liable kid gaurded him mostly. Chas Moore put up 20 for the Tigers. Holy Cross played thier best game IMO. The Ryan kid was lights out in the first half. But I still truly believe Beechwood has not yet reached thier full potential. But hey, thats just me.

I'd like to see HC play Holmes & Beechwood play CCH in the districts. Both these games would pit neighborhood rivals where all the kids know each other so well. Yes, Holmes & CCH will probably prevail, but I wouldn't count HC or Beechwood out this year. HC has proven in the past that it can beat Holmes in tournament games when Holmes is favored (ask Mike Flynn). Also, the games are at HC this year. Beechwood has already proven it can play CCH tough and with a little luck, anything can happen. The odds are in Holmes & CCH's favor but I would not be shocked at all to see one of them knocked off. Looking forward to watching a great district!

Looking forward to watching a great district! I don't think that Beechwood could beat either team CCH or Holmes, sorry to the Tiger fans. They played CCH well but it was a game that featured a CovCath starter getting benched and a whole lot of defensive mix ups. Granted Beechwood caused some of those, but I think in the event of a rematch CCH prevails. And they didn't play Holmes at full strength. But HC could beat either team IMO especially since its at HC. Not saying that its likely but it is very possible.
