Does anyone think Highlands will be a contender this year since they have many returning players at the varisty level?

From what I have been told they kept 20 kids on the roster. Can you tell us who is on the Varsity team? I know they have Jake Heck, but not sure of all the others. And where does Heck play this year?

Jake Heck plays right field, and I am guessing other starters will be Molina in center and Lester in left. I know all 9 seniors made the team and beside that group would be Allen, Cochran, Geusenhues, Vermiel, Hennigan, Martin, and Mitchell Jones. Not sure who else.

Does anyone have information on Highlands going to the Cal RipkinTournament in Myrtle Beach this spring. I belived that they will play in early April>

IMO, the biggest question mark is who fills the leadership void left by Meyers' graduation. They'll miss Mitch's bat, but even more so, he was a great leader.

 

The good news is that there is a big senior class to step up and fill that leadership role.

Yes there is a scrimmage at Simon Kenton. Started about at 2:00 and it is just varsity. Next week is a trip to Lawerence County to play 3.

I think the lineup is catcher schultz/hennigan; 1st base Martin; 2nd Allen; Shortstop Whitford; 3rd Schultz; RF Heck; CF Molina; LF Lester. Catcher should be Murray/Hennigan.

Birds must have done pretty good or UKfan would be on here tellin us all how SK has 4 1st round Draft selections this yr. LOL

Lots of players played and pitchers threw. Low scoring game when I was there. SK scored some runs on HHS' 5th or 6th pitcher due to walks and sloppy defense (amazing how those go together, isn't it?). In addition to those mentioned above, the following saw action when I was there:

 

Liggett (SR) - P & 2B

Schroder (SR) - 1B

Collinsworth (SR) - OF

Seidl (SR) - OF

Vermeil (JR) - P & 3B

Gesenhues (JR) - 2B

Jones (SO) - P & OF (looked good on the bump)

Ramey (SO?) - C (Hennigan is not throwing yet)

Murray (SO) - OF

Mills (SO) - 1B (nice hit to deep CF but got thrown out at 3B w/ no outs -- JB not happy)
