Montgomery County 53 Bishop Brossart 36

True, but isn't Brossart a private school?

Yes they are . . . please explain why that matters. For the record so are Cov Latin, Villa Madonna, and Heritage Academy.

What does that have to do with anything. 380 kids versus 1100 kids means more players to pick from and there are not many kids choosing to go to Brossart for sports and if they are they are picking it for the wrong reasons. They have a good sports programs and have been very good but just don't have the numbers to reload every year. Some very good classes and some ok classes thats how it goes for small school. Montgomery has a really good team and would beat BBHS 8 or 9 times out of 10. No disrespect to BBHS because they are good and play as hard as anyone, thats just the way it is.

I love small school sports and would love to see classes but it will never happen. All A is there chance to shine and some years in the big show. How many "A" schools will make the sweet 16 in either boys or girls. Not many if any.

Let them know how we roll Baller99!!!! I got your back on this one! :thumb:

Please explain what you mean by that.

I took it to mean he is saying if your choosing a small catholic high school your doing it for a quality and catholic education. If your going there to win state in every sport your probably not going to achieve that at a small school. A good competitive sports program is just a part of it and that is what it should be. Does this help?

We use the phrase "Brossart Athletics - The Other Half of a Quality Education."

Academics and athletics should go hand in hand, and I think that at Brossart we do a pretty good job of providing both.

In the realm of basketball we are blessed to have good feeder school programs, great coaches, and fans/parents who are passionate about our program while keeping everything in its proper prospective. Our administration is all about academics, and makes sure that our kids get every opportunity for a quality education. Together we make a pretty good team.

I am a firm believer that academics and athletics should never be put on the same totem pole when evaluating a school, so far as determining our priorities. The two - athletics and academics, go hand in hand, side by side, to provide a quality high school experience. We are very proud of our "more with less" reputation, and continue to strive to produce a first-class environment for our kids in the classroom and on the court.

Kids are not choosing to come to Brossart to play sports so as to give them an unfair advantage because they are a private school. You hear it a lot about private schools south of here like Trinity, St.X, among may others. For example if I had a Stud football player am I going to send him to Brossart, probably not I would send him to Highlands to play ball and get a great education.

Don't get me wrong for the size of school Brossart has GREAT sports programs and beat many large school teams in many sports (just ask CCHS soccer team and softball team about that) but it is not a Sports machine by anyones definition.

Zap thats exactly what I mean.

Dead on Mustang, Academics is where it's at.

VERY WELL SAID !!

Dead on Mustang, Academics is where it's at.

I understand .. no harm intended. I thought you were implying that attending Brossart for athletics wasn't a good idea.

The case for going to BBHS for athletics is an very attractive reason to attend, as opportunities exist FOR ALL STUDENTS in ALL SPORTS. Oh, and by the way, you get a first-rate quality education!! Education is first and foremost .. totally agree .. the athletic programs (as well as all the other non-athletic extra-curriculars BBHS offers) are simply icing on the cake!
