14th Region Semi-Finals..

Perry County Central thrashed the Cordia Lions a few weeks ago, 80-64. Perry County Central comes in at 25-7 overall (13-0 region). Cordia comes in at 19-9 overall (15-7 region)

This should be a dandy, this time around.

Closer than last time but same result. The size of PCC will win them this game again.

Perry Co. Central rolls!

65-52

PCC 76 Cordia 60

PCC 76 Cordia 60

Don't underestimate the Cordia Canadians!!!!

Perry Central 72 Cordia 58

This should in NO WAY be taken to imply that I am accusing anyone involved with a particular program (Perry Central or otherwise) of committing the actions mentioned in the article , I just posted to give insight into what's going on in the Cordia player's community right now, which could best be described as shameful.

As someone who grew up in Eastern Kentucky (and in a broader sense, even Kentuckians in general), it's sad that we have to fight stereotypes of our culture that are perpetuated because of incidents like this. I'm guessing the kids (at least hoping that adults didn't do this) who destroyed the mailbox probably don't understand the consequences of destroying federal property, or the potential that someone could be hurt by being shot by a pellet gun or thinking that someone was aiming at them with a real gun).

Nonetheless, I have to applaud the Canadian kids at the center of the controversy for taking the high road with quotes like this:

WYMT: "The players said they still love eastern Kentucky."

"It's great, the support we get from the community and fans," Owootoah said. "At our last game they made cut-out posters of us. They had so much stuff going on for just one game and it was amazing because we had never seen anything like that back home."

Perry Central 68-61.

I saw this on the news.
