Any word on Ryle and Conner this year?

 

Yeah will someone tell their parents that BGP is offering free memberships so we can get some updates on them!!

Trust me "my little pony" the teams listed are very good and very competitive teams you need to get out more! One of the static teams listed has a national championship under their belt. The static is one of the best organizations in all of Oh. The nky naturals are extremely competitve at their age in Ky, and played in two World Series last summer, one in Myrtle beach. A world series is where all the competitive teams from around the country come to compete against each other. And Emr is another Ohio powerhouse. So don't try and down play because in 1978 you won the camp co league. In summer ball these days, it's competitive softball people are talking about, not your church league!!

 

I hope the new coach has your ponies on the schedule this year so you can see the talent first hand!

Summer Ball is a lot different when referencing tournament summerball! From what I have seen Summer Tournament teams would beat hell out of 90 % of high school teams and get more college exposure so if these High School girls are not playing summer tournament ball they are missing a great opportunity!

 

8 to 10 tournaments with maybe 6 or 7 games is a pretty full season around here!

we don't play at NKU anymore...played in visalia and CCHS...we only had like 6 games...not the best league when your kids get high school age:( NKY really needs something for these girls that can't play travel ball.....just my two cents:)

Well our team played about 12 games in that league last year. I do know the person that was running the league had contiunal problems with teams cancelling at the last minute and you mention CCHS, we were supposed to play them 2 times in doubleheader games and they cancelled both times.

 

I have just recently spoke with a member of the league committe and ALL games will be played at Kenton Lakes this season and will start the week after the high school regionals are finished. He said they will have the use of all 4 fields which will allow for teams to play 2 games each week.

 

I would ask that before slamming the league too much to remember that it was the first year anything such as this was attempted and for our team we were very happy with the results and plan on playing again this season. I know the person that was running this put a lot of time and effort into that league. Unless it is a summer team, the league is most made of up teams that are for the girls that dont play summer ball and coaches would have problems with players showing up. I will also say we were to play NCC 2 times and they had to cancel because of such reasons.

 

Unlike travel teams where player put up hunderds of dollars to play, this league doesnt require that. I think we paid about $40 per player if that and I assume that when you dont have a lot of money invested there isnt the commitment.

not a slam at all...my oldest has played in that league since 1st grade and my youngest played two years...merely stating that we didnt play many games last year and none at nku. BIG change this year from years past in organization. im sure whoever runs in puts time in, but i didnt feel the league was that competitive. I was saying that nky needs more than one travel ball team for girls, in my opinion. not all of us have the time or money to travel the countryside and invest thousands so our kids can play the game they love...id like to see the ccrgsl run as well at the older level as it does for the younger girls....it just didmt have the same feel as in years past...just my opinion;)

Why not see if you can make it so if on a given night one team has 12 girls and one has 7 if you can switch a few girls around teams. If I am not mistaken the league is about getting some girls playing time and not for trophies?

Something tells me that CCHS and BBHS would NOT be for that idea:) LOL All in good fun, of course.

 

I feel that the main "problem" with this league was the fact that it was a mixed league of slow and fast...my kid started fast at first grade, so all was good. Tons of other girls played slow til 6th grade, then couldn't make the switch to fast and struggled with it...hence the non competitiveness for a few years that I saw. The girls got frustrated and didn't have a choice once they reach high school, so they quit. I see a change in this now with friends kids, it will just take time. I am hoping for more games this summer from this league, keeping our fingers crossed:)

Playing summer ball doesn't mean a lot unless you know how good the competition is and how many games you play against top competition. We used to play 100 plus games in the summer and won quite a few games by scores like 26-1 and 34-0 so just because you play it doesn't necessarily mean it makes you better than the competition. It comes down to talent in the final analysis.

Feel the Love for the Kenton Co. Schools !:lol2: Not sure of there record last year , but I think Scott should be on the up-swing for the next few yrs. I know they had close to 30 girls at tryouts this year. Looks like they got a good young talent pool coming into the program. I can say at least 8 or 9 of the younger ones have fast pitch experience. I think they only have 1 , maybe 2 seniors this year with 7 or 8 jr's and sophomore's. The rest are freshman and under.
