^So even though in order to have an abortion, a minor doesn't need parental permission or even knowledge, but to NOT have an abortion, the minor needs parental permission? That's the stupidest thing ever, if that's how the law is written.

There are lots of contrary laws on the subject:

• Someone wants to have an abortion, kills a 4 month old baby in utero: perfectly legal.
  
• Someone driving recklessly hits another car. The woman driving the other car is 4 months pregnant, and loses the baby as a direct result of the accident: reckless driver is tried for manslaughter.
  

I'm curious as to what the driving force is in BGPer opinion of this?

Well, I think that abortion is murder, period, so I'm against it.

 

I would follow that up by saying, my personal belief would be that the girl should look into giving the baby up for adoption. That would be what I would push for as a parent, and in all likelihood, I think that unless my daughter were able to give me one hell of a convincing argument in favor of keeping and raising the baby herself, as the father of the dependent minor, I would require her to give the baby up for adoption.

It wouldn't be necessarily hypocritical without knowing your overall stance and priority.

 

Parents are 100% in the wrong on this one. They are setting their daughter up for some potential emotional devastation and it will absolutely change their relationship forever.

It would, unless your rational is that abortion is wrong, therefore you feel whomever is pro-life is in the right, but even then, you couldn't make an argument that had any legs to stand on.

My opinion is based on consistency. I believe that a parent should have to consent before a minor has any medical procedure including abortion. Current laws say that a minor does not need a parent's consent or even knowledge before having an abortion so why would she need their consent not to have one?

Age of consent in Texas is 17.

Which is why i raised the questions I raised in my original post.

 

Personnaly I am against abortion and would rather the child be given up for adoption if the mother isn't fit to raise and support the baby. I said what I said in my original post to see what rights as a legal gaurdian someone has.
