I know that, I was there.

 

But that was Mike, not Clay.

 

Clay wasn't even in High School until the mid 90's. Tom left in '87 which was Mike's Senior Year.

 

Clay went to the mess that Duffer and Tom left at Henderson. He wasn't hired because of some connection to the Duffy's.

 

Again, the poster I responded to said: Danville can't get away from the ghost of Tom Duffy. There is no ghost.

Wonder what happens with Coach Perry? Hard to see him sticking around Danville. I understand the thought process... New start and all - but it is still a tough decision.

 

Perry was a successful head coach (still all-time wins leader at Garrard, probably), and gave your program a lot of loyal service (one might expect that 15 + years would be pretty valuable).

 

Where does he end up? I know he has turned down several jobs over the last couple of years.

You are correct! When Harp came to Danville, he tried to implement his Anderson County offense and defense. (Running shoot and 4-3 defense)The first 3 games of the season, the ADS went 0-3. Players were not happy with the scheme that Harp was running. At that point, assistant coaches spoke to Harp and Duffy's offense and defense was put back into place. the majority of Harps success at Danville came from Duffy's schemes.

 

Clevenger is hired by Duffy in Henderson..I'm sure with the time he spend with the Duffy's he has adopted their philosophies as well and offense of defense to bring to Danville with him. So everything is coming back full circle once again.

 

From '98-'06 and those 6 finals and 4 State Championships had nothing to do with Duffy's schemes.

 

Now the Veer? Very well might have. That I didn't know.

I would say maybe more of a Veer philosophy coming full circle, but not so much a Duffy one.

No. What I meant was was each of their connection(s) to both schools.

 

Duffy- Coached at both places.

Clevenger- Played at Danville, then HC at Henderson, now back to Danville.

I have knowledge of Duffy's schemes and Harps. I watched the run your referring to. It looked similar play wise.

Clay never coached with either Duffy. Duffer left Henderson and went to Fairhope, AL. Tom retired and moved to Lexington. Clay was then hired as the HC at Henderson. Duffer ran Franklin's offense, Clay ran the veer at Henderson. My guess is that is what he will run at Danville. When Tom Duffy first came to Henderson and for most of his time here he ran the wing T. In 2001 or 2002 they put in the Franklin offense (I think it was 2002) when Duffer became the OC. Also Tom Duffy didn't go from Danville to Henderson. He coached at Highlands in between.

Also, I am pretty sure that Coach Harp didn't run a run-and-shoot at Anderson or early at Danville. Thought he was pretty much a straight wishbone guy up until the late 90s.
