With 3 minutes to go Corbin was down 7 points....... they never got any closer and the closest they ever got the entire game was 5 points.

 

You are partially right. Corbin was down 2 with around 20 seconds left in the half and Riley hit a 3-pointer to push it to five, then Corbin made a three at the buzzer that was ruled late. Corbin was never closer than the halftime deficit the remainder of the game though and South was never in any real danger of losing the lead the entire second half. Corbin had a chance to cut it to 6 with 2 FT's at the end of the third quarter, but missed both.

I totally agree...... but my point was that at this time in the season if SL plays their "C" game they still beat any team in the Region..... they proved that last night, not taking anything away from Corbin or what they did because they obviously didnt play their best either. Heck no if SL brings their "C" game will they win the 13th region crown...... they will get beat if they are playing that way come tourney time... I totally agree.

 

My point was also that I dont think SL will playing the way they did last night come tourney time....... and therefore it will be extremely difficult for anyone to take the 13th region crown from them because by that time they will be on their "A" game.

 

I find it funny how a 17 point loss at home by arguably a top 5 team in the region is giving everyone in this region hope that SL may not be as good as previously thought. I mean NL did that earlier in the season, so for anyone thinking SL was unbeatable you are badly mistaken. I just dont think come tourney time anyone will be able to pull the upset..... although Ive been wrong before.

If you can play your C game and still beat anybody in your region you are playing a WEEEEEEAK schedule.

Ummm what? I don't think South Laurel is playing a weak schedule at all. (Let's see Pendleton County, Mason County twice, North College Hill, the tourney in Carolina, North Laurel twice, LIT, Mad. Central) The Cardinals have to play district games. I met be misunderstanding your post.

Just talking about District and Region games.

Everyone is so concerned with margin and all those things, well look at it this way. SL played well enough to win and Corbin did not. There is no moral victory only victory and defeat. South won by 17 it could have been 117 or 1, the bottom line is, it is still a win and they clinch the number one seed in the district. You can debate the should have and could haves all night, once again what happened, happend and no amount of wishing or debating can change it.

 

I think SL is head and shoulders above most of the state and region teams. But you have to give Corbin credit for playing hard and representing their school, and thier town well and showing great sportsmanship.

SL cant help their regional and district schedule. Duhhhhhhhhhhhh

 

However, SL has played (as I have stated a 100 times I think):

 

1. Pendleton Co, Mason Co twice, Lafayette, Madison Central (all top 25 teams in KY according to one source or the other)

2. Carolina Tourney that featured Glenn NC (a top team in NC)

3. North College Hill and Brentwood TN (2 USA TODAY top 25 teams)

4. Rival NL twice

5. LIT tourney

SL's schedule is anything but easy..... it isnt very deep with KY talent, but it is as strong as any other KY top 25 team. :thumb:
