With the season winding down its shaping up to be a great regional tourney, BUT its also shaping up for some heat at the end of the year for a few coaches.

 

1. Robert Jones McCreary Central- while McCreary in times past have been in the hunt, Coach Jones has lost the team and the support of the community. Hearing some names already being talked about for the job.

 

2. Dennis Pardue Garrard County- 3-19 to this point has the natives restless in a county where they want their team back on top.

 

3. Darry G. Burkett- Casey County- Lots of talk that this job may also be open.

Not sure where your Garrard info is coming from but it is inaccurate. First, Pardue is the fifth coach in four years at Garrard County. All involved are looking for stability in the program that has long been missing. Pardue has never had a losing season prior to this year so he obviously can coach. I think most are prepared to give him a few years before the ax falls.

 

Second, I'm not sure where the "back on top" comes from considering the program has won one district title since 1993. The last time Garrard won a game in the regional tournament was 1982. So anyone longing for the "good old days" was around in the mid-70s or earlier.

 

While this season's 3-19 record shows that this season hasn't progressed the way Garrard hoped, the Lions are playing three freshmen extensively and have lost eight times when leading in the fourth quarter. It is far too early to be talking about change.

Not trying to start any rumors. Everyone in McCreary is talking about it.Like Cellking says, if the super was not there, Robert Jones and his sidekick would have already been fired. Two names for that job keep coming up, Toby Curry and the left handed legend Tim Stephens, both would be a huge upgrade. As far as Casey its a tough job and there is a some legit talent coming up there and hearing he could be gone. Garrard record warrants a close look.....

Explain. I'm still not seeing where your Garrard/hotseat theory is coming from.

The record is what I mean. 3-19 is enough to get you looked at hard. I saw them earlier in the year and they looked like they were not that bad, which means something isnt right. McCreary is a different story, the whole community is about to explode in both football and basketball.

Schools like Garrard get what they deserve. People apply for their jobs and they make it out to be the best job opportunity in the entire region, like they have the last 5 years. Had some great applicants actually this time, made a safe, good hire, BUT 3 wins?? All 12th region people know they are better than that. However they are not going to compete in that district any time soon. Heard some of the questions that were asked at the interview, I think I would of walked out. People who are in leadership positions that dont have a clue about making hires, unofrtunately all of our districts have those.

Let's wait until after districts to start deciding what jobs might or will be open at season's end.

Well...I can't speak for any questions asked in the interview, but I know they had four finalists for the job that all would have been good choices. The administration obviously made the choice they thought best for the program.

 

As for the record, I agree, they should be better than that. However, they have no interior presence and they start a freshman at point guard, two things that can make winning difficult at the varsity level. They've lost countless games they have led in the fourth quarter. And they have had success at the freshman and junior varsity levels this season and only lose one senior next year, so there is something to build on. As for competing in the district, they've lost twice to Boyle County by six points, twice to Danville, once in double overtime and once on a last second three, and twice to Lincoln County. So while they might not be winning district games, they have been more than "competitive" within that grouping. I'm not sure they've had the year they expected, but by the same token I don't think anyone is prepared to throw in the towel on the entire situation already.
