In reading your past post RCC9 I agree with you. I think you and FBD are talking about 2 different things.

I agree if kids have not played freshmen all year you dont move them down to win the freshmen tournament. I also agree and hate it when teams move players down who havent played all year and then play at district and take the spots of kids who have started or have got playing time all year. I think what happened in FBD's situation at Gallatin is as a small school they only had 5 total freshmen and had to bring three 7th graders up to play freshmen. THe player that got hurt played all year to develop her game and be more than just a role player and then was hurt in the freshmen district. The kid wanted to play in the district badly and was devastated when it was proposed she didnt. Though the district is meaningless to some of us it wasnt to this kid or her team. Obviously in hindsight the coaches should of made the kid sit out their only freshmen district.

First, welcome to BGP. Now...Okay, you're right. I just heard Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto are moving down to triple A this year because the Reds want to win tirple A. They are the right age! They have every right to do it! Joey has friends on the other triple A teams and wants to compete against them and show them how good he is. Brandon wants to have fun and not have all the pressure of playing against the best everyday. Dusty, Brandon and Joey agreed it's okay.

Not reality, just an analogy. That's how I look at it. Move a kid up if you need players. I understand that Gallatins and several others situations are different because of numbers. Amd apparently the young lady that got hurt was playimg freshman some anyway, so her situation wouldnt fall under what im talking anout. But that's not my issue. When the intent is to clearly try to win at a lower level by bringing kids down that clearly can compete at the next level, it's just not right. I dont know what any of the situations were or are this year, I'm just saying in general it's wrong except for injuries or illness an then I'm still a believer in moving a kid up (where possible) instead of down.
