At least everyone knows who is in charge . Most schools put their coaches in situations where nobody knows who the real coach is. Some higher power is calling the shots. Some coaches won't be back next year. Big revelation.

The Owls have this one if they want it, I think.

The Owls do cause some matchup problems in terms of size for JBS's guards, but the Crusaders hustle, play hard, and the Cox kid is a tremendous shooter. If Owsley worries too much on Collins inside, they will get burnt outside. I cant wait to see the Smith/Stepp matchup either, 2 of the best slasher/scorers in the region. If Owsley doesnt play with intensity, the Crusaders will roll.

I think if Owsley or any other team challenge the crusaders shots ,limit there shot selection and contain there guard play forcing other players than cox and stepp to defeat them , it could be a long trip back to pippa passes

BTW, and I'm not positive about this so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think June Buchanan has ever played at Owsley County since the school was formed, and I can't remember Owsley going to Pippa Passe either. I know Owsley beat them in the finals of the 2000 All A at Dilce Combs, but other than that, I can't recall the Owls playing them in the past. Maybe I'm wrong.

The Collins kid didn't show me much against Breathitt. Of course like I stated in another thread, neither did JBS. They could have just had an off night or something I don't know, but the Collins kid looked out of sync with the rest of the team that night.

I think people really dont understand how deep this team is. From what I've seen they can go 9 or 10 deep with players that would be starting for alot of other schools in the 14th region. They have tremendous size and quickness that comes off their bench. I think if June Buchanan has any problems it might be their youth. I just really can't see Owsley winning this game.

One things for sure, if Owsley happens to get past June Buchanan and Lee County does likewise with Jenkins, the Sherman Neace Center will definitely have a HUGE gate with those two rivals playing Friday night. Both schools have very loyal fan support.

Will Owsley play there "patented" 2-3 zone against JBS or will they man up. Owsley is not very deep & a 2-3 may help keep neeley & smith out of foul trouble but could open up the perimeter.

If Owsley plays the 2-3 they better be able to get out on the shooters of JBS. If not it could be a long night for them, because Cox can fill it up.

Owsley has been playing different zones lately, and very little man defense. I think it has helped them because the younger players seem to be doing better in it. They played mostly zone for the game against South Floyd. A zone puts pressure on the shooters to hit the perimeter shot, because the defense usually has good rebounding position.

Hopefully if JBS does get some looks they'll miss the majority of them.
