Championship of the WYMT Mountain Classic. This was a very good game. Perry kept Camron Justice in check for most of the game until he came through in the 4th quarter scoring 23 points. Both Braxton Beverly and Camron Justice played good games. with the win Perry County Central improves to 13-3 (5-0 region), Knott County Central 15-3 (9-1 region)

Next Up;

Perry County Central; hosts Breathitt County on Tuesday then travel to Scott County for the Toyota Classic where they will open up against #10 Lafayette on Thursday at 9 PM.

Knott County Central; 14th Region All A Classic.

By the way, these two teams will meet again on February 7th at Perry County Central

Little surprised by this score but not really. Two really good teams. These two will compete with Cordia for the 14th title.

Hazard should have Hollon back in a week or so, and he is one of the top guards in the region and will definitely put the Bulldogs back in the mix.

But right now Perry Central looks like the region's best team. They had an 18 point lead at one time last night. The big kid they just got eligible a few games back, Justin Johnson, had 18 points and 16 rebounds. Along with Cornett and Pray he gives Perry a formidable front line. Freshman Braxton Beverly (it seems like he's been playing forever) is a cool headed, savvy little 1 guard as you'll find in Kentucky. And Stacy burned the net with 3's last night and gives them a deep threat.

Perry's Prey kept Justice in check last night until he exploded in the 4h quarter for over 20 points. When his team was down 18 Justice hit three straight 3's to cut the lead to 9, all within a minute.

One thing though, the free throw shooting was not good for both teams. And Justice and Beverly were not exempt.

Cordia has shown they have no chance in the 14th region....many other teams much better than Cordia....probably 7 or 8 better than Cordia,,,,

You do realize that Cordia just got the transfers eligible that they've been waiting to hear about. One is suppose to be a D-1 prospect. And Knott only beat them around 11 points without these 2 guys. Cordia will be a factor if these kids can play up to their hype. And if Rhodes can coach the X's and O's.

Cordia has just unveiled half of their college team...other half could be eligible soon.

Those Canadians are popping up everywhere these days.

Any names, links, etc. that you'd care to share? (I'm asking because you had the scoop on Kasongo and Wolter last year).

Emmanuel Owootoah and Marlon King are already eligible. They are awaiting rulings on 6'8" Fritz Lucien and Felix Frimpong.

Are these all Cordia transfers? Can someone explain to me what is going on with the influx of Canadians to KY High schools.

Didn't know that.......

As an outsider, and by no means any offense to the wonderful people of Cordia, but why would Canadian kids (from what I've heard) go to Cordia? Just asking...seems a little strange to say the least.

This is a good question.

For those that's never been to Cordia, it's lovely country, but as my grandpa used to say about places far off the beaten path, "It's in the head of nowhere, backed up against nothing!"
