I'm hearing the lack of student support is directly related to the principal at Conner. Sad.

How is this? Does the principal make announcements saying not to go to the games? What does the principal do? curious

I heard that the student section is not allowed to get into a big group and stand and cheer like they do at other schools.

It really is unfortunate. The VERY person who should be 100% supportive of these type of activities is the one quashing them. That gym was as quiet as the county morgue last night. Zero energy for the players to feed off of. I believe athletes can thrive off of a great fan base. Essential for a principal to support athletic programs to the highest degree.

The lack of fan support was very evident at the game last night. I was surprised at the Camels low turnout, but very surprised by the empty seats for Conner. :idunno:

Conner could not finish inside and ft were a problem again. Fan support at conner is terrible. during football season the basketball team would dress up and support the team now football guys are nowhere to be found Campbell had as many fans there as Conner.

 

McGovney still looked a little timid when exploding to the basket which is to be expected. His stroke however looked as smooth as ever. The freshman Williams played well. His height was an issue for Conner. Conner had zero bounce and by the time they realized they were in a game it was too late. They are not good enough to be able to flip a switch. They need to be ready to play for the opening tip.

 

As for the fans, they showed up in droves for Game 1. Them the administration crushed the school spirit and told them they were not allowed to dress or have themes like every other school. As a big "screw you" they decided to start boycotting games. Sad that the administration can't allow the students to show up and have some fun and support their school and classmates. The bigger issue is this seems to be affecting the play of the team as they have now established a pattern of "going through the motions" at home games, which really is inexcusable. You should play hard no matter if its in front of 10 or 10000 people.

Why would the admin be against "theme" nights? I can't see that unless there was poor taste or something crude about it. Let the kids have fun.

Basically, they're lazy and try to rule with an iron hand. Higher administration is despised by most students, closely followed by the parents. These site based decision processes have gone way to far IMO. Supers need to get involved but rarely do on issues such as these. They just turn the other cheek and give these principals way to much power.

That is one of the best parts of basketball! Student section!

I feel bad for the Conner players and students if this is the case. High school sports should be a fun time for both the team and classmates.
