Daniel Neeley led the Owls with 32. Robert Smith had 24. They are coming around. Might have the best back court in the 14th region. It will be an interesting showdown with JBS next Wednesday night. I would not want to have to play them come district tournament time.

congrats to the owls. I thought the Owls would win this one.

Big win for Owsley. I was there. They broke out to a 22 point lead in the first half, then South Floyd cut it down to 6 in the second half. Then Owsley pushed it back out to 18 with around 4 minutes left in the game. SF began to foul and Owsley had trouble making free throws. Plus they made some silly turnovers. The Raiders cut it down to 8 but couldn't get any closer before the final horn sounded.

 

The team played great team ball tonight, and Smith and Neeley hit some big 3's....both had 4 of them. Owsley also got a lot of layups out of South Floyd's press.

 

The Owls may be ready to make a run when it counts the most, close to tournament time. :thumb:

I think he had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Trey played really hard-nose tonight.

He's a winner in my books. And Dustin Wilson had a bunch of rebounds. Josh Reed had 12 points. All in all a very good team effort :thumb:

That sounds wonderful. I think this game will give them a big boost for Wednesday night's All "A" opener against June Buchanan. :dancingpa

Owsley County seems to be hitting their stride at the right time. They will be a team that you will not want to play in the tournament. Neeley, Smith, and Congelton pose a serious threat to teams in the 14th region.

Huge win for the owls. Sounds as they played as a true team too.

Enjoyed watching this game...#4 for Owlsey impressed me..love to watch this kid play. I can see Owlsey making some noise in the All A.

Morgan County has a very nice facility and the games were great. That's the first time I've ever been in their gym. Our coach, Paul Smith, had the chance to talk to his college basketball coach at Mississippi State, Joe Dan Gold, the superintendent of Morgan County schools. I overheard some of their conversation and they had some good laughs about the good old days. Coach Smith's senior season at MSU was the 1966 season, the same year of Rupp's Runts and Texas Western.

 

# 4 is Daniel Neeley. He's a junior and has been trying to work through injuries for about 3 weeks (thumb, both ankles, tail bone) but he looked tonight like he did at the first of the season when he averaged 30 points a game through the first 6 games. I heard you compliment him on his game tonight and I know that really helps his confidence. thanks. :thumb:
