what level is this team playing at? Is this a HS team? In either case, as the Coach, you want to seperate yourself from the fundrasing. I suggest you call an all-perspective parents meeting and get a boosters club started with officers selected the first meeting then lay the fund-raisers in their laps. Parents that are not sure if little jimmie will make the team will be less likely to make a booster club officer commitment.

 

Yes, this is the HS level. I certainly plan on delegating the fundraising responsibilities once I get things where they need to be. We are, however, working from a negative budget, which I am taking it upon myself to correct. Beyond that, I will have parents oversee any fundraising.

Does anyone know of any good, quick fundraisers? Or, does anyone know of any businesses that like to donate or sponsor? I just took over a program that had less than zero dollars in its account.

BTW, the cornhole tourney is good advice.

Signs, signs and more signs. We have sold 52 signs on our field for advertising at $250 per sign the first year and $150 renewal. This generates annually about $7,800.00 and our goal is to get 60 signs. PM me and I will give you ideas about the ham sale that BBF13 talked about. You can make $2,500 on the ham sales with minimal participation. I think that if everyone really tried that you could make $5,000. The hams are something that people are already buying anyway.

Wrist Bands (school name/logo/mascot name)

Window Decals (Baseball/school name/logo)

Bumper Stickers (Baseball/school name/logo)

License Plate (front of vehicle)

I've heard several schools are doing "Souper Bowls". They have people from the community donate a pot of their favorite soup/chili and you charge $5 to go around and sample the soups you want to. I know Pendleton Co. did one at their basketball game Friday night and it looked like it went over very well.

Good list Strike3, we did a horseshow one year and raised around $3K. Any kind of dinner(ie soup and salad, spaghetti, etc) goes over pretty well.

 

Program guides are a nice fundraiser as well.

We do a hit-a-thon. People sponsor you so much for each cut you take in practice on a certain day, there is no out of pocket expense, it works great for us. We have 38 kids in the program and raise about $5,000 per year.

The way you do a hit-a-thon is each player gets people or businesses to sponsor them so much per swing in the cage, or they can just donate a lump sum. We set aside one day of practice and each player is in the cage for a set amount of time. At the end we add up the number of swings that the coaching staff would deem a quality swing (ex: line drive that would be deemed a hit). They then collect the money from their sponsors. If a player takes 20 quality swings and someone donates $1 per swing, then they would owe $20. Each player can easily raise $200-$300.
