So what was the final score and why did GRC ask out of playing BB to play this team?

It hasn't been 100% confirmed that GRC backed out of the game. It has only been confirmed that there was a revamped consolation bracket and Brossart got the short end of the stick.

This is a post I made in the "Republic Bank Classic" thread. The fact that we lost to Fayettte will probably irk some Brossart fans, but we lost to the Tigers because we didn't play well, not because we were doomed by the schedule change. As far as we are concerned it is a dead issue. We are ready to move on.

Not real sure of why the switch took place. We were simply informed of the change and told that GRC had dropped out, which obviously isn't the case.

 

While we would have preferred to have played GRC, we will play whoever they assign to us, which in this case are the Fayette County, Georgia Tigers. We and Coach Humphries are friends and we do not want to burn any bridges with the GRC folks by making an issue of it. If it works out better for them to play the team from Florida, then so be it.

 

Our concern is playing five games in five days and being the only team in the tournament to be asked to do so. AGAIN, being good citizens of the tournament we will do as instructed, even though this could result in our having to drop regular season games down the road should we go deep into the "A" State Tournament - IF we should be so fortunate as to get there. The games we would have to drop would be away games, which would cost us home dates next season.

If thats true it must be nice to be able to tell the people running the tournament who you want to play and who you dont want to play.

Not true. I know our coaching staff and Coach H will play the best of the best, just look at our schedule and who we have played. One of the strongest of any of the 10th region teams. It was also reported that we were dropping out of the tourney and that wasn't true either. I didn't believe that either.

 

Now to the game.....I couldn't find a box score but did find where, Khmarkis Blanton had 19 pts, 9 rebs.
